Gaskin (knee) will not play Sunday after the running back was not activated off injured reserve in time to be eligible to play in the contest, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There was some thought Gaskin could play after serving his mandatory three-game stint on injured reserve, but Saturday's lack of announcement means he'll be unable to play Sunday against the Jets. With Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) also ruled out, Matt Breida will step into the starting role with Patrick Laird and DeAndre Washington expected to chip in as complementary pieces.

Coach Brian Flores relayed Friday that the team's coaching staff will review the film on Gaskin (knee) before determining if he'll be activated for Sunday's game against the Jets, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gaskin, who is still on IR, has been practicing this week and if he is indeed deemed fit to play this weekend, there's a path for him to reclaim the team's lead role, with Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) having been ruled out for Sunday's contest. Miami's other backfield options include Matt Breida, Patrick Laird and DeAndre Washington.

The Dolphins designated Gaskin (knee) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Dolphins will have 21 days to evaluate Gaskin for a return to the 53-man roster. Gaskin was seen donning a non-contact jersey Wednesday, so he might need to increase his involvement in workouts Thursday and Friday to have a realistic shot at playing Sunday against the Jets. Undrafted rookie Salvon Ahmed has impressed enough in recent weeks that Miami likely won't feel the need to rush Gaskin back into action unless the team is convinced he's at or near 100 percent health.

Gaskin (knee) is recovering well from the MCL sprain he sustained Nov. 1, but the Dolphins haven't indicated that he'll be activated from injured reserve this week, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gaskin is first eligible to return from IR in Week 12 after sitting out the minimum three games with the injury. Before his potential addition to the 53-man roster can be set in motion, the Dolphins would have to designate him to return from IR, a transaction that would allow the 23-year-old to resume practicing. If the Dolphins aren't convinced Gaskin is healthy enough to play this weekend against the Jets, the team would likely rely on undrafted rookie Salvon Ahmed to lead the ground attack for another game.

Gaskin (knee) will be placed on IR and miss a minimum of three games, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gaskin's original timetable for a return from a sprained MCL was roughly three games, so it makes sense for the team to put the back on IR and clear up a roster spot. It makes for a tough position group to gauge, as Matt Breida (hamstring) and Patrick Laird (ankle) are both dealing with injuries of their own. The Dolphins may soon find themselves using Jordan Howard again, who had been a healthy scratch for three consecutive games. They also acquired DeAndre Washington via trade, but as a new acquisition, he'll presumably have to quarantine and test for COVID-19 before being allowed to suit up.

Gaskin is expected to miss the Dolphins' next three games due to a sprained MCL, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gaskin has been the team's top RB by a long shot this season, combining for 585 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 130 touches through seven games. His work on the ground has been modest (3.9 YPC), but he also has gathered in 30 of 35 targets (86 percent catch rate). With such a void to fill in the backfield, Miami dealt for DeAndre Washington before Tuesday's deadline. Washington will join healthy bodies Matt Breida, Patrick Laird (ankle), Lynn Bowden, Jordan Howard and Salvon Ahmed in the backfield.

Gaskin rushed 18 times for 47 yards and a touchdown and brought in three of six targets for 16 yards in the Dolphins' 28-17 win over the Rams on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
EDGE Analysis
Gaskin struggled for running room against the Rams' typically accommodating run defense, but he helped fantasy managers with his one-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter. That score atoned for a lost fumble, the first of Gaskin's career, earlier in the period. The 2019 seventh-round pick now has logged double-digit carries in five straight games, leaving no doubt as to his leading status in Miami's backfield. He'll look put together another productive performance versus the Cardinals in Week 9.

Gaskin carried the ball 18 times for 91 yards and caught all four of his targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 24-0 win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Both the 91 rushing yards and 126 scrimmage yards were career highs for the second-year back, as Miami spent much of the second half burning clock after taking a 21-0 lead into halftime. Gaskin has a firm hold on the No. 1 job in the Dolphins' backfield, and his role is unlikely to change following the team's Week 7 bye.

Gaskin carried 16 times for 57 yards and a touchdown while adding 34 yards on five catches (five targets) during Sunday's 43-17 win over the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
Gaskin struggled to the tune of 3.6 yards per carry but still managed to come through with his second-highest totals of the season in carries and rushing yards. He scored a one-yard touchdown in the first quarter and rounded out his performance with five receptions for the third time in the last four games. Gaskin's yardage totals aren't elite, but he's received 61 touches over the last three games and could get a few more chances in the red zone moving forward for a surprisingly productive Dolphins offense. Gaskin will look to build on this effort next Sunday against the Broncos.

Gaskin could be set for a larger role, particularly in the red zone, with backfield mate Jordan Howard (coach's decision) inactive for Sunday's Week 5 tilt against the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
Gaskin has already logged 14 red-zone rushes through four games, but he may be set for an even larger role than usual with Howard out, that is if the Dolphins offense manages to put him in position frequently enough against a tough 49ers defense. Gaskin is averaging 12.0 rushes per contest and 4.0 yards per carry thus far, but he'll be challenged against a San Francisco unit tied with the Seahawks for least fantasy points per game allowed per game in standard formats (10.0) to running backs.
