Bennett was officially traded from the Eagles to the Patriots on Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

The terms of the trade have yet to be released, but it's now a done deal that Bennett will continue his playing career with the Patriots in 2019. While the 33-year-old's advanced age may seem like he could be a risky addition at this point in his career, Bennett has been as reliable as defensive lineman come, playing a full 16-game season in six of the past seven years. Should he maintain his health as the year unfolds, Bennett should play a huge role in New England's attempt to replace defensive end Trey Flowers, who was allowed to walk in free agency before signing a $90 million deal with Detroit this week.

The Eagles are expected to trade Bennett to the Patriots on Friday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

EDGE Analysis

Earlier Friday, Bennett made comments on GMFB on NFL Network, stating, "I'm not willing to take a pay cut. I actually want a pay raise at this point." Those words may have spurred the Eagles to seek out trade partners, but it appears Bennett will be in a new locale in the near future. Over the past seven seasons, he's racked up at least five sacks in each one and 8.5 or more on five occasions.

The Eagles are working on a trade to send Bennett to the Patriots, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

EDGE Analysis

The trade makes a lot of sense in terms of positional need, as the Eagles have an impressive group of defensive ends led by Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett (shoulder), while the Patriots are in danger of losing their top pass rusher (Trey Flowers) when free agency opens next week. The 33-year-old Bennett has aged rather gracefully, piling up 17.5 sacks in 32 regular-season games the past two years. The Patriots theoretically still have enough cap space to retain Flowers, but this move suggests it isn't likely to happen.

Bennett has been made available for trade by the Eagles, Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Eagles were reportedly shopping Bennett at the NFL Combine and he responded by saying "We are in a tough situation as far as the salary cap, I'm not willing to take a pay cut. I actually want a pay raise at this point." Even if the team is unable to find a suitor they don't necessarily have to keep the veteran defensive end, as he would carry zero dead cap if released.

Bennett tallied 34 tackles, nine sacks, one pass breakup, and two forced fumbles over 16 games in 2018.

EDGE Analysis

Bennett was a force in his first year with Philadelphia after being acquired from Seattle last March. Trailing only first-team All-Pro teammate Fletcher Cox for the team lead in sacks (10.5), Bennett was a key piece in a top-notch defensive end rotation and didn't seem to have slowed down much in his age-33 season. He remains under contract for two more seasons and, with Cox also around for the long term, should continue to produce while figuring to draw less offensive attention in his sidekick role.

Bennett (foot) is active for Sunday's playoff game at New Orleans.

EDGE Analysis

Bennett has been battling the foot issue since late November but he has yet to miss a game. The veteran defensive end should take up his usual starting workload on the Eagles' defensive line.

Bennett (foot) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's divisional-round playoff game against the Saints.

EDGE Analysis

Bennett didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but worked as a limited participant Friday. If the veteran defensive end is able to suit up through his lingering knee injury, he'll play a significant role in Philadelphia's defensive line rotation in New Orleans.

Bennett (foot) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears.

EDGE Analysis

Bennett did not practice Wednesday and Thursday, but was a full participant Friday. The veteran defensive end appears on track to play through his lingering foot injury, as per usual. If he's able to suit up, Bennett will be a valuable asset in Philadelphia's defensive front.

Bennett (foot) is active Sunday against Washington.

EDGE Analysis

While Bennett could match his career-high sack total if he's able to get to opposing QB Josh Johnson twice, he's not the safest of IDP options after accumulating just one combined tackle in 113 snaps over the last two weeks.
