Kerwynn Williams was released by the Saints on Friday, Charean Williams of CBS Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams latched on with the Saints in camp this season, but he couldn't do enough to earn a roster spot. The journeyman will look to land another opportunity elsewhere prior to Week 1.

Williams signed a contract with the Saints on Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Saints waived/injured running back Matthew Dayes (undisclosed) on Thursday, so the team used the now-open roster spot to sign Williams. The Saints are fairly secure with their running back depth heading into the preseason, but Williams will still compete for a potential depth role with the team.

Williams was released by the Buccaneers on Monday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams spent approximately one week on Tampa Bay's roster, and now becomes free to search for a depth role elsewhere in the league. The 27-year-old did not play for an NFL team during the 2018 season, and spent the previous four years in a depth role with the Cardinals.

Williams signed with the Buccaneers on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams was released by the Lions on Thursday after signing a reserve/future contract with the team, but he's now on his way to Florida with Tampa Bay. The move is a reunion of sorts between him, head coach Bruce Arians and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, who were all together in Arizona.

Williams was released by the Lions on Thursday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams didn't appear in a game for any team last season and then latched on with Detroit this spring on a reserve/future contract. It seems last week's addition of Maryland's Ty Johnson in the sixth round might have made him expendable. Williams will now try to find a roster spot elsewhere as teams fill out its 90-man rosters ahead of training camp.

Williams signed a reserve/future contract with the Lions on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Williams did not play for an NFL team during the 2018 regular season after having served a depth role with the Cardinals during the previous four years. The 27-year-old will work to show his versatility during the offseason, and attempt to earn a backup role in Detroit.

Williams was knocked out of Thursday's preseason opener against the Falcons with a head injury, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The exact severity of the issue hasn't been revealed, but Williams has likely gone through the concussion protocol to check if that is in play. Despite appearing in all 16 games last season for the Chiefs, Williams has a less than firm grasp on a 53-man roster spot with Kansas City. An extended absence wouldn't work in his favor, but getting healthy is certainly the first priority.

Williams is slated to sign a one-year deal with the Chiefs, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams joins a crowded Kansas City backfield that is headed by Kareem Hunt and at least for now also includes Charcandrick West, Spencer Ware, Damien Williams and Akeem Hunt. The 26-year-old logged a career-high 120 carries for 426 yards and TD to go along with 10 catches for 93 yards in 16 games for the Cardinals in 2017, but in his new context, Williams' path to touches is unclear in the absence of future roster trimming/fellow running back injuries.

Williams is working out for the Chiefs, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite starting six games for the Cardinals last season, Williams doesn't seem to be drawing much interest on the backup running back market in free agency. He'd merely compete for a roster spot in Kansas City, where Kareem Hunt, Charcandrick West, Spencer Ware (knee) and Damien Williams (shoulder) are already on the roster. West ultimately may be a cap casualty, but there would still be ample competition for backup work, assuming Ware and (Damien) Williams make full recoveries from their respective injuries. (Kerwynn) Williams likely will have to settle for a contract around the veteran's minimum, after averaging 3.6 yards on 120 carries and 6.2 yards on 15 targets last season.

Williams ended the 2017 season with 120 carries for 426 yards and one touchdown. He also tacked on 10 receptions (on 15 targets) for 93 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Aside from TDs, Williams set career bests in sheer output on both the ground and as a receiver. The expanded workload was made possible by injuries to both David Johnson (wrist) and Adrian Peterson (neck). The latter set the stage for Williams' late-season run, which included at least 16 rushes in five consecutive games to close out the campaign. His YPC during that stretch (3.9) was acceptable enough and likely will spur the Cardinals to re-sign the unrestricted free-agent-to-be this offseason to serve as depth behind Johnson in 2018 and beyond.
