Ballage carried the ball 18 times for 68 yards and also tallied five receptions for 34 yards in the 29-21 loss Sunday to the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
That's now back-to-back weeks Ballage has acted as the feature back for the Chargers, and this time Week 8 leading rusher Troymaine Pope (neck) was active. At this point it's safe to assume Ballage has surpassed Joshua Kelley and Pope on the team's running-back hierarchy, and it's possible the former Dolphin could remain a part of the team's plans once Austin Ekeler (hamstring) returns, which could be as soon as Week 12 against the Bills. In the immediate future, Ballage figures to be the prime back in another revenge game, this time against the Jets next Sunday.

The Chargers promoted Ballage to the active roster Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Ballage made his Chargers debut last week and immediately received an increased workload with Justin Jackson (knee) exiting early, and he took advantage of the opportunity, recording 84 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 17 touches. Jackson's now on IR, too, so Ballage, Joshua Kelley and Troymaine Pope (neck) will round out the backfield committee for Sunday's game versus Miami. The Chargers likely will take a "hot hand" approach, so Ballage should have a chance to prove that last week wasn't a fluke.

Ballage will be elevated to the Chargers' active roster for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, per coach Anthony Lynn, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ballage took on a leading role in his Chargers debut after Justin jackson hurt his knee early last week against Vegas, finishing with 84 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 15 carries and two catches. While Jackson (knee) has been ruled out against Miami, the Chargers could get back Troymaine Pope (neck), who would provide additional competition for snaps at running back along with rookie Joshua Kelley. Kelley played more snaps than Ballage last week but failed to find much running room. Pope -- who is questionable -- will likely take on an important role if he plays, but Ballage could end up grabbing the majority of the work over Kelley if Los Angeles' backfield comes down to just the practice squad call-up and the struggling rookie again.

Ballage reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
EDGE Analysis
Ballage was elevated to Los Angeles' active roster Saturday, ultimately accumulating 84 scrimmage yards, two receptions and one touchdown against the Raiders as Justin Jackson (knee) exited the game in the first quarter due to a knee injury. With 4.6 yards per carry in his Chargers debut with a workload of 15 rush attempts, it's hard to imagine Ballage not getting another chance with the active roster. If Troymaine Pope (concussion) remains inactive for a second straight game when the Chargers travel to Miami next Sunday, Ballage would surely be in line for another audition.

Ballage carried the ball 15 times for 69 yards and scored a touchdown. He also caught two of his three targets for 15 yards in the 31-26 loss Sunday to the Raiders.
EDGE Analysis
Ballage was elevated from the practice squad Saturday and yet somehow led the team in rushing. Part of that was due to injuries as Troymaine Pope (concussion) was ultimately ruled inactive before the game and Justin Jackson (knee) was banged up already in the first quarter. It's clear the Chargers have essentially reduced Joshua Kelley to a part-time capacity, but it's unclear how the backfield would shake out if the likes of Ballage, Pope and Jackson were all healthy. Austin Ekeler (hamstring) still remains as the obvious starter once he's able to return although it's unclear when he might be eventually activated off injured reserve.

The Chargers elevated Ballage to the active roster Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Ballage has served on the Chargers' practice squad for nearly a month, and he'll finally be activated because Troymaine Pope (concussion) is considered doubtful. Justin Jackson and Joshua Kelley are expected to handle a bulk of the backfield reps, but considering Pope logged a 29 percent snap share and 15 touches last week, there's likely some work available for Ballage.

Ballage signed to the Chargers' practice squad Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old was cut by the Jets at the start of the week after an ugly showing in Week 4, but he'll now make his way to the Chargers. Ballage has a legitimate chance of being promoted at some point since Austin Ekeler (hamstring) is on injured reserve and Joshua Kelley and Justin Jackson are the only remaining running backs on the roster.

The Jets cut Ballage on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Ballage made a handful of costly mistakes during last Thursday's loss to the Broncos, including a badly missed blocking assignment in the first half and a poor decision to stop ahead of the first-down marker just before the two-minute warning. His departure is also a likely hint that Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) could be activated off IR for Week 5.

Ballage didn't record a carry and caught two of three targets for 11 yards in Thursday's 37-28 loss to the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Adam Gase views Ballage as New York's best pass-catching option out of the backfield even though Ballage hasn't done much to earn that trust. He completely whiffed on his blocking assignment in pass protection in the first quarter but was bailed out when Sam Darnold broke out of a would-be sack and took off for a spectacular 46-yard rushing touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Ballage had just one man to beat for a first down with the Jets driving for a go-ahead field goal just before the two-minute warning, but he opted to trot out of bounds three yards before the marker, and the Jets went on to turn the ball over on downs. Despite those errors, Ballage will likely continue to see the field in passing situations as long as Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) remains sidelined.

Ballage rushed for eight yards on two carries and caught all five of his targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 36-7 loss to the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
With the Jets playing from behind most of the game, Ballage saw extra work as a receiving option for Sam Darnold and ended up leading the Jets in receptions while tying Chris Hogan in targets. With Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) not eligible to come off IR until Week 5, Ballage could continue to be the team's top passing-down back, although that role isn't likely to lead to consistent production in one of the NFL's weakest offenses.
