Morgan was treated for an apparent, self-inflicted gunshot wound on Jan. 31, FOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Among the final cuts from Saints training camp in 2015, Morgan failed to take an NFL snap for the first time since he was selected in the 2008 draft. While the recent incident brings with it a misdemeanor charge of reckless use of a firearm, it remains to be seen if he'll be a part of an offseason program in anticipation of the 2016 season.

Morgan was released by the Saints on Saturday, Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
EDGE Analysis
(Josh) Morgan lost out to Joseph Morgan in a battle for one of the final roster spots, leaving the latter as the Saints' likely No. 5 wide receiver. Josh Morgan could draw some interest due to his experience, but he's unlikely to find anything better than a depth role.

Morgan caught two passes on six targets for 22 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Packers, and both Mike Triplett of ESPN.com and Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune expect Morgan to make the Saints' final 53-man roster.
EDGE Analysis
Morgan has been inefficient catching the ball over the last two preseason games - hauling in only three of the last 11 passes thrown his way - and he has been in a tight battle for a roster spot with Joe Morgan. It has been reported that the Saints are only expected to keep one of the Morgans, and Josh appears to have the edge over Joe, who struggled mightily on Thursday. Even if Morgan makes the roster, he is likely to be no better than fourth or fifth on the wide receiver depth chart, with Brandon Coleman expected to serve as the Saints' No. 3 wideout to start the year.

Morgan caught one pass on five targets for 26 yards in Sunday's preseason game against the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
Outside of Willie Snead, Morgan was the most targeted Saint on Sunday, however, he managed to haul in only one of the passes thrown his way. While he played behind both Snead and Brandon Coleman in the offense, he at least saw snaps ahead of Joe Morgan in the wide receiver pecking order. Morgan may not be much of an asset for fantasy owners, but he could act as a hindrance to the values of young players like Coleman, Snead, or Nick Toon, as the Saints appear to like Morgan's abilities as a blocker, which could earn him playing time if he makes the final roster.

The Saints have signed Morgan, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Morgan, who caught just 10 passes for 70 yards and a TD in 14 games for the Bears last season, slots in as a depth wideout for the Saints behind the team's top options at the position, Marques Colston and Brandin Cooks.

Morgan finished the 2014 season with 10 receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball on two occasions, picking up 30 yards. Morgan remained on the roster all season and suited up for 14 games, but with at least four superior receiving options ahead of him in the pecking order for targets, the 29-year-old was never able to see much involvement. He'll be a free agent in the offseason, and there's little incentive for the new regime to keep him around in Chicago.

Morgan had two yards on two receptions in the Bears' Week 16 loss to the Lions. The two catches were Morgan's most since Week 4, but as the yards per reception total suggests, he's not much of a threat for the Bears. Don't expect him to make much of an impact in Sunday's season finale against the Vikings.

Morgan gained 21 yards on his first rushing attempt of the season in Monday's loss to the Saints, but failed to reel in his lone target in the passing game. The absence of Brandon Marshall (ribs) the past two weeks has allowed Morgan to pick up over 40 snaps in both of the Bears' games, but it's resulted in only a minor uptick in usage. With Marquess Wilson locked in as the Bears' No. 2 receiver in place of Marshall, there's simply not enough targets to go around for Morgan.

Morgan caught one pass for eight yards in Thursday's loss to the Cowboys. After falling behind by as many as four touchdowns in the game, the Bears were forced to abandon the running game, employing three- and four-receiver sets in many of their second-half play calls. With Brandon Marshall lost earlier in the game with a rib injury, Morgan moved up the depth chart to become the No. 3 receiver, seeing a season-high four targets. If Marshall's injury keeps him out of action in Week 15 against the Saints, Morgan would likely see a similar amount of usage.

Morgan (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports. Morgan's 10 targets are scattered across four of his nine active outings this season, confirming his status as a fantasy non-entity.
