Freeman announced his retirement from football Saturday, according to the Canadian Football League's official site.
EDGE Analysis
A 2009 first-round pick by the Buccaneers, Freeman struggled to establish himself in the NFL over the course of his career, topping a 60-percent completion rate just once in five seasons. He took his talents to the CFL this spring but was unable to make a name for himself there, either. The 30-year old retires with 11,108 passing yards and 48 touchdowns in 62 career games.

Freeman has been released by the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman joined the Colts amid their quarterback injury crisis in late December and actually started the team's season finale just days later, completing 15-of-28 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Still, that performance wasn't enough to secure Freeman's future in Indianapolis, where fellow backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is set to leave this offseason as well, leaving a vacancy behind Andrew Luck on the Colts' depth chart.

Freeman completed 15 of 28 passes for 149 yards, a touchdown and an interception in his first NFL action since Week 7 of 2013 against the Titans on Sunday. He also rushed eight times for 24 yards.
EDGE Analysis
The once-promising quarterback out of Kansas State has seen his career spiral into mediocrity since some promising early years with Tampa Bay, and he squandered an opportunity to impress with both Andrew Luck (abdomen/kidney) and Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder/ribs/back) out. The fact that realtor Ryan Lindley was trusted to run the two-minute drill over Freeman should tell owners all they need to know about the 27-year-old's chances of regaining an NFL starting job next season.

Freeman will start Sunday's game against the Titans.
EDGE Analysis
With both Andrew Luck (abdomen/kidney) and Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder/ribs/back) out, the Colts will turn to Freeman on Sunday in their long-shot bid to secure a playoff slot. He's not a high-percentage fantasy play in Week 17, but Freeman is an option for those scrambling for QB help this Sunday.

Freeman is expected to start Sunday against the Titans, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman, who signed with the Colts on Tuesday, has been splitting first-team reps with Ryan Lindley in practice this week, and he apparently did enough to win the start Sunday, with both Andrew Luck (abdomen/kidney) and Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder/ribs/back) sidelined. The Colts are a significant long shot to make the playoffs, and it's unclear if Freeman would keep the job even if the playoff miracle came true.

For the third straight day, Freeman and Ryan Lindley split the Colts' QB reps at practice on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
We do know that both Andrew Luck and Matt Hasselbeck are ruled out this week, but for now the Colts are not inclined to identify their starting signal-caller for Sunday's game against the Titans.

Freeman is a candidate to start Sunday's game against the Titans.
EDGE Analysis
With Andrew Luck ruled out and Matt Hasselbeck unlikely to be available for the contest, it looks like either Freeman or Ryan Lindley will draw the team's start at QB in Week 17. A decison on that front won't arrive until later in the week, however, making either signal-caller a very speculative lineup option at this point.

Freeman signed with the Colts on Tuesday, Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
With 2014 UDFA Stephen Morris being the only other healthy quarterback on the roster, it isn't entirely out of the question that Freeman could start Sunday's regular-season finale against the Titans. Granted, Freeman would only have five days to prepare, but Morris has only been on the roster since last week. Of course, the team hasn't officially ruled out Andrew Luck (kidney) or Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder), so there are still a bunch of different ways the situation could play out. Freeman, the 17th overall selection in the 2009 NFL Draft, never lived up to the promise of his impressive sophomore campaign in 2010.

The Dolphins have waived Freeman, reports Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.
EDGE Analysis
This move shouldn't surprise anyone as Freeman had an awful training camp and failed to impress anyone in Miami.

Free-agent quarterback Josh Freeman was re-signed by the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, according to the Palm Beach Post. Freeman was released on Friday but will return for the start of training camp, where he will face an uphill battle to secure a roster spot behind quarterbacks Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore.
