Jake Locker played the entire first half of the preseason finale, completing 9-of-16 passes for 81 yards and adding two carries for 22 yards versus the Saints.
Locker was three near-misses from an outstanding stat line, but fizzled out in the red zone. He threw an incomplete pass to Kendall Wright in the end zone, barely overthrew Damian Williams on a potential 61-yard score and fumbled inside the 10-yard line on another drive. Locker finishes an up-and-down preseason 31-of-60 (51.7 percent) for 316 yards (5.2 YPA) and 57 rushing yards on six scrambles.

According to coach Mike Munchak, Jake Locker will keep the Titans' starting quarterback job "unless there's a reason to make a change."
It's a bland statement, but notable because Munchak opted against an unequivocal endorsement of his second-year signal caller. Locker's accuracy issues were evident in the preseason, and with the Titans having playoff aspirations, it's not outside the realm of possibility they'll turn to Matt Hasselbeck if Locker's development isn't coming along as hoped. Locker should have a very long leash, however.

After viewing Jake Locker's preseason throws, The Sideline View's Adam Caplan likens him to Donovan McNabb in terms of passing mechanics and overall skill set.
This was the comparison we made, as well, after viewing Locker's 2011 action off the bench. Caplan has been critical of Locker's accuracy woes, which were evident even as he compiled a 4:0 TD-to-INT ratio in limited rookie duty and have continued into the 2012 preseason. Locker has completed just 50 percent of his August throws. He can compensate some with playmaking ability and big-time vertical throwing ability, but may never be a truly efficient passer.

Coach Mike Munchak had high praise for Jake Locker following Thursday's preseason game against the Cardinals.
Locker compiled a 109.2 passer rating by completing 11-of-20 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns. "He does things that people wouldn't notice he was doing that most young quarterbacks wouldn't even think of being able to handle," Munchak said. Fantasy owners should also note that between last regular season and this preseason, Locker has scrambled 12 times for 91 yards (7.58 YPC) with a touchdown. The kid is an athlete.

Jake Locker completed 11-of-20 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns against the Cardinals in the third preseason game.
Locker atoned for a couple of overthrows with a back-shoulder laser to Kendall Wright for a 10-yard touchdown and an equally strong 28-yard score to Nate Washington on an underneath cross route. Combining scattershot accuracy with impressive mobility and downfield aggressiveness, Locker has completed 22-of-44 passes (50.0 percent) for (5.3 YPA) and two touchdowns in three preseason games. The Rotoworld Draft Guide ranks Locker 14th among fantasy quarterbacks this season.

The Titans have begun tailoring their offense to starter Jake Locker's skill set.
Locker main strength's include mobility and arm strength. "We can ... hone in on Jake's skills," said quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains. "We're going to do things he is comfortable with." Expect plenty of rollouts, bootlegs and vertical routes. Locker will be drafted as a QB2 but has QB1 upside.

The Titans have named Jake Locker their starting quarterback.
One of fantasy's most important position battles is over as Locker beats out veteran Matt Hasselbeck. Locker has gone 11-of-24 for 101 yards with no touchdowns and one interception through two preseason games, but his arm strength, mobility and aggressiveness is tantalizing. During his final three bit appearances off the bench as a rookie last season, Locker averaged 15.9 yards per completion and scrambled eight times for 56 yards with a touchdown. With the Titans running a variation of the "Run 'N Shoot," Locker will start screaming up draft boards as a potential low-end QB1. He's been one of our favorite sleepers for months now.

Coach Mike Munchak said Saturday that Jake Locker's rough performance in Friday's preseason game hasn't taken him out of the running for the Titans' starting job.
Making his first career start, Locker displayed scattershot accuracy, completing just 4-of-11 passes for 21 yards and an interception. Munchak said he's yet to decide who will start Thursday's game against the Cardinals, and insisted there is still "plenty of time" to choose a starter. Whoever's under center Thursday will be the heavy favorite to start in Week 1. Matt Hasselbeck is the likely choice at this point.

Jake Locker completed 4-of-11 passes for 21 yards and an interception in the Titans' second preseason game Saturday night at Tampa Bay.
This was the first NFL start of Locker's career -- preseason or real -- and he struggled mightily. He airmailed a pass up for grabs on Tennessee's first possession, which Bucs S Ahmad Black easily secured and returned to the Titans' two-yard line. We had Locker down for 27 snaps. While he flashed his playmaking ability and athleticism on a 21-yard scramble to help set up one of Chris Johnson's touchdown runs, ultimately this was a step back for the young gunslinger. Locker's accuracy remained an issue, often missing high. Look for Matt Hasselbeck to start the Titans' third preseason game.

Coach Mike Munchak indicated after Wednesday's practice that Jake Locker merely must maintain his current performance level in order to beat out Matt Hasselbeck for the Titans' starting quarterback job.
Locker hasn't been setting the world on fire, but he's been quite a bit better than the incumbent. "I think Jake Locker just has to do what he has been doing out here," said Munchak. Munchak did say he'd like to see Locker "finish" more drives with touchdowns as opposed to field goals, but talked up his improved accuracy and efficiency. We like Locker to win this camp battle by a good margin.
