Doyle caught four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Texans.

EDGE Analysis

Dwayne Allen exited the game with an ankle injury early in the first quarter, leaving Doyle in an every-down role as the top tight end, ultimately logging 64 of the 71 offensive snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. While he didn't get a corresponding bump in target volume, Doyle made the most of his limited looks, just as he's done all season. He's now hauled in 20 of his 23 targets for 204 yards, with three of those catches going for touchdowns, including a score from 22 yards out Sunday night. In the event Allen is unavailable, Doyle could be a big part of the offense in Week 7 against Tennessee.

Doyle had just two receptions for eight yards on three targets in Sunday's win over Chicago.

EDGE Analysis

Doyle played just 28-of-58 snaps on offense as the Colts utilized more three-receiver sets. If the Colts can get better protection from their offensive line, Doyle may see a reduced role.

Doyle had one reception for six yards on one target in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville.

EDGE Analysis

Doyle had fewer targets than Dwayne Allen (four) but neither tight end was very involved in the passing game despite Andrew Luck attempting 42 passes. Doyle played 42 of 80 snaps on offense (Allen played 62), so he should bounce back and remain a significant factor in the passing game.

Doyle had six receptions for 65 yards on six targets in Sunday's win over San Diego. He played 53 of 74 snaps with the Colts using more two-TE sets with Donte Moncrief out.

EDGE Analysis

Doyle continues to be efficient in the passing game as his 86.7 percent catch rate (13 of 15 targets) is the best rate for tight ends with at least 11 targets. He also got more targets for Dwayne Allen as the duo will likely split opportunities in the passing attack.

The Colts may use more two-tight end sets that involve Doyle with Donte Moncrief out 4 to 6 weeks with a shoulder injury, RTV Channel 6 in Indianapolis reports.

EDGE Analysis

Indy's offense had prominently featured three-receiver sets but that could change with Moncrief hurt and little experience among the reserve receivers. Doyle has seven receptions and two touchdowns this season and may continue to be a steady part of the passing game as a result.

Doyle had four receptions for 47 yards on five targets in Sunday's loss at Denver.

EDGE Analysis

Doyle showed his Week 1 performance wasn't a fluke. While he didn't get two touchdows like last week, he still had five targets as it looks like he'll remain a consistent part of the passing attack and perhaps take some targets away from Dwayne Allen.

Doyle had three receptions for 35 yards, including two touchdows, on four targets in Sundays loss to Detroit.

EDGE Analysis

Doyle got significant playing time, playing 39 of 70 snaps on offense, so his production may not be a total fluke. While he may not continue as a red zone threat, the Colts have used two tight ends frequently in the past and Doyle may be used more frequently given Indy's pass-blocking problems on the offensive line.

Doyle did not have a catch and was targeted once in Saturday's preseason loss to Baltimore. He doesn't have a reception yet this preseason.

EDGE Analysis

Doyle should be set to make the final roster and should enter the season as the No. 2 tight end. However, he could be bypassed on the depth chart by Erik Swoope as the top receiving tight end if Dwayne Allen were to get hurt.

Doyle has signed his qualifying offer to remain with the Colts.

EDGE Analysis

Following Coby Fleener's departure in free agency, there figures to be some added snaps available for Doyle in 2016, though Dwayne Allen remains the Colts' top option at tight end, from a fantasy perspective. Doyle finished up the 2015 season with 12 catches for 72 yards and a TD in 16 games for Indy.

The Colts extended a qualifying offer to Doyle on Thursday, the team's official site reports.

EDGE Analysis

Initially plucked off waivers from the Titans in September of 2013, Doyle has only missed one game over the past three seasons, but his presence has rarely been felt in the box score. Overall, he's gathered in 35 of 43 targets for 209 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season, while adding seven more catches (on 10 targets) for 30 yards in five postseason tilts. Fellow tight ends Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener are about to embark on unrestricted free agency, so if one or both aren't retained, Doyle could make a move up the depth chart.
