The Titans have named Jake Locker their starting quarterback. One of fantasy's most important position battles is over as Locker beats out veteran Matt Hasselbeck. Locker has gone 11-of-24 for 101 yards with no touchdowns and one interception through two preseason games, but his arm strength, mobility and aggressiveness is tantalizing. During his final three bit appearances off the bench as a rookie last season, Locker averaged 15.9 yards per completion and scrambled eight times for 56 yards with a touchdown. With the Titans running a variation of the "Run 'N Shoot," Locker will start screaming up draft boards as a potential low-end QB1. He's been one of our favorite sleepers for months now.

?????....QB1????....11-24 with no tds and 1 pick.....He aint even truely better than hassleback let alone any of the top 15 starters in the NFL....H ewill be lucky to be better than ANY of the rookies and second year QBs let alone be a QB1....Again who hires the people that comes up with this stuff????...Please draft this guy like a low end QB1 when you are drafting against me please....I beg you...LOL

Just because he did not throw a TD which sucks for fantasy, does not mean he had a bad NFL game. He did lead them to score 20 points in one half. If he throws for 3500 yards, about 220 per game, and 16 TD's, 1 per game and adds a couple of hundred rushing yards (20 per game) and 3 or 4 rushing TD's that is good enough for finishing in the top 15 in QB stats easily.

Depending on the scoring system last years number 15 ranked QB in my league was Alex Smith. 3150 yards and 17 TD's in the air and 179 yards and 2 TD's on the ground. Yes I think Locker can at least match those numbers. Locker might not start the year as a started but he has potential to end it as a starter. If you are the guy that gets Cutler, Flacco or Freeman as your starter you could end up starting Locker by the time you hit fantasy playoffs.

Also remember Locker gets the Colts and Jags twice on his schedule and that is 2 pretty soft Defenses for 25% of his games

So to point out a Qb 1 is not someone that you play half a year when they say QB 1 you are thinking names up to and including Brady....Brees...Rogers....Manning.....Romo....Rivers.....Vick.....Ryan....Roethlisberger....and a couple i may have missed.....If you think Locker will put up better numbers in a run first offense with no real WRs on the team that arent always banged up (Britt)....Then I encourage you to please join all my leagues and use him as your starter for the fantasy year....PLEASE!!!....As for the effective part....I wasnt saying he wont win games but to use a fantasy term like QB1 for him is ludicris....He could do well enough to make them happy and even win a few games and do well in some games....He wont be a fantasy stud....Thats the point i was making....and 16 tds sounds great til you are penalized for the 25 ints....As for his running game....Great now he takes chances to be injured as well thats what i wont out of my QB 1 is for him to be so raw he cant read defenses so he blindly runs.

None of the names you mention are low end QB1. Those guys I do expect to start every game all year. But when you start looking at QB's ranked in the 11 - 15 range they are not locks to start every week. If you have the 12th best QB in league, because in a 12 man league someone will, you might start a 13th or 14th ranked QB more than a few times especially if he gets better as the season goes on.

Why do you assume he will throw 25 int's? In almost 70 pass attempts last year he threw for over 500 yrds and 4 TD's with 0 ints and ran for 1 TD. Even in the preseason he only has 1 int. Neither myself or the original writer said anything about fantasy stud. I compared him to Smith, Flacco, Cutler, and Freeman all low end QB1 guys. You put him in with the studs. The original writer said low end QB1 and you said he wont crack the top 15. I was just pointing out that to be a top 15 QB your stats dont have to be stud like. I compared his projections to that of Alex Smith last year and I would not say he is a stud or a guaranteed starter.

Also Tenn has CJ looking good at RB, Nate caught over 70 balls with 8 TD's last year. Wright looks like he is going to be pretty good too and eventually Britt will be back. Their TE is not too bad either with Cook.

2 more points I want to make. Alex Smith was in a run first O and he put up low end QB1 numbers and a couple of those QB1's you mentioned that you dont want running for a couple of hundred yards did last year. Nobody said top 10 and in a 10 man league with 1 starting QB Locker might not get more than 1 start but in a 12 man league Locker has the possibility to start a number have games for that poor guy that did not get a top 10 QB.
