The Raiders could save $5.341 million against the 2013 salary cap by releasing Darrius Heyward-Bey.

DHB is due a prohibitive $7.721 million base salary in the final year of his rookie deal, and Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times has already said it's "pay cut or hit the road time" for the former No. 7 overall pick. Oakland is weak on the outside at receiver, so Heyward-Bey could have a chance to stick around if he agrees to the salary slice.
