Starting with David Garrard (knee scope) sidelined, Matt Moore was shaky in Friday's preseason opener, completing 7-of-12 passes for 79 yards and an interception.
Running behind Garrard in practice by nearly every account, Moore missed a big opportunity to make a good impression on his new coaching staff. No. 8 pick Ryan Tannehill didn't, however, coming on in relief of Moore to complete 14-of-21 throws for 167 yards and a score. With Garrard likely to miss at least two more preseason games, Moore will have more opportunities to set himself apart in the Dolphins' three-man race, but he's going to have to be much better than he was this evening.
