ESPN New York expects the Jets to "follow the Seahawks' model" at quarterback, putting Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, and David Garrard on a relatively even playing field during the preseason.

Sanchez is the Tarvaris Jackson (incumbent), while Garrard is the cheaper version of Matt Flynn and Smith is the hopeful Russell Wilson. Jets GM John Idzik hails from Seattle and was obviously paying attention. Beat writer Rich Cimini expects Smith to "get every chance to show he can play." If Smith beats out Sanchez, the latter could be shipped away via trade or release in August.
