University of Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville relayed that Pead lost part of his left leg in a car accident this past Saturday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
"It's devastating, because he lost part of his left leg," Tuberville said Wednesday of Pead, while speaking on his weekly radio show. "He'll never play again, obviously. It's just devastating." Pead -- who played his college football at Cincinnati before being drafted by the Rams in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft -- played in three games with the Dolphins this season prior to being released by the team.

The Dolphins are releasing Pead on Tuesday, Alex Marvez of The Sporting News reports.
EDGE Analysis
This strongly suggests Arian Foster (groin) is expected to return, as the Dolphins have carried at least four healthy running backs since the beginning of the season. It would be overkill to retain five, even though Pead can contribute a bit on special teams. The 2012 second-round selection has just 42 career touches on offense, with another 18 on kickoff returns. He may not find work before the end of this season.

Pead played nine snaps in Thursday's loss to the Bengals, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pead finished with three rushes for five yards and caught one pass for six yards as well Thursday. That production, as well as Pead's low snap count, evidences his reserve role in Miami's backfield, where an intriguing fantasy option has failed to emerge in Arian Foster's (groin) absence.

Pead had five carries for 17 yards as Miami defeated Cleveland 30-24 on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
With Arian Foster (groin) out the Dolphins went with a running back by committee approach. None of the backs truly stood out above the rest so the team may elect to go with the same approach Thursday in Cincinnati assuming Foster will miss another game. Pead would only have value in deep leagues.

Pead is active for Sunday's Week 3 matchup versus the Browns, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald/a> reports.
EDGE Analysis
The fourth-year back stands to see his first playing time of 2016 after flashing enough in preseason to earn a roster spot. Pead is slated to share backup carries with Jay Ajayi and Damien Williams behind designated starter Kenyan Drake.

Pead is inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
EDGE Analysis
With Pead and Damien Williams both inactive Sunday, the Dolphins will go with Arian Foster, Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake at running back in Week 2.

Pead was not on the Dolphins' injury report Wednesday, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pead had been dealing with a hamstring issue prior to Week 1, leading to his inactive status for Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. It appears he's healthier this week, but still may not suit up if the Dolphins proceed with less than five running backs. Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams are also candidates to provide depth in the backfield behind Arian Foster (hamstring) and Jay Ajayi.

Pead (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
With Pead and Jay Ajayi out this week, Damien Williams and rookie Kenyan Drake are next in line on the Dolphins' RB depth chart behind starter Arian Foster.

Pead (hamstring) is considered questionable to play Sunday against the Seahawks, the Miami Herald reports
EDGE Analysis
Pead was limited earlier in the week, when reports suggested he'd be unavailable for Sunday's tilt. While his status will have to be confirmed one way or the other prior to Miami's 4:05 ET kickoff in Seattle, the Dolphins could maybe use him more than previously anticipated Sunday, as fellow tailback Jay Ajayi (coach's decision) will not play.

Pead (hamstring) was officially a limited practice participant Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Previous reports suggested that Pead would be out this week, but his limited practice participation Wednesday suggests that such an outcome won't be locked in -- either way -- before Friday. In any case, Arian Foster and Jay Ajayi are clearly ahead of Pead in the Miami RB pecking order, so Pead's Week 1 availability has limited fantasy implications.
