Posey had an encouraging preseason, in which the 28-year old appeared to be building a rapport with rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson, but evidently did not show well enough to secure a spot on the Raven's 53-man roster. The 2012 third-rounder will become an unrestricted free agent if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Posey brought in both of his targets for 31 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 27-10 preseason win over the Dolphins on Saturday.

EDGE Analysis

Posey provided a nifty 21-yard catch-and-run on a pass from Lamar Jackson early in the fourth quarter, pushing the Ravens' lead to 24-10 at the time. While encouraging, the 28-year-old's score may not be enough to vault him far enough up the depth chart to keep him on the final roster, especially given Tim White's impressive performance Saturday. Posey will get one more opportunity to make his case in next Thursday's preseason finale against the Redskins.

Posey signed a contract Tuesday with the Ravens.

A third-round pick of the Texans in 2012, Posey spent three unremarkable seasons in the NFL before washing out of the league following the 2014 campaign. The wideout has since plied his trade in the Canadian Football League the past two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, who he helped lead to a league championship en route to claiming Grey Cup MVP honors. Now 28 years old, Posey is hopeful that his successful run in Canada will put him in better position to make an impact in the passing game in his second trial in the NFL.

Posey played in each of the Jets' first three preseason games, hauling in seven passes for 60 yards and a score. It wasn't quite enough to make the first round of cuts, however, as the former Houston Texan will now be in search of a new home. There are plenty of teams out there that lack the wide receiver depth of the Jets, so Posey shouldn't be searching for long.

Posey was traded to the Jets on Friday along with a combination of draft picks for the No. 70 overall selection, Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle reports. The Texans ultimately used the pick on Arizona State wideout Jaelen Strong, who is the leading candidate to start opposite DeAndre Hopkins this season. Posey, meanwhile, is coming off a tough second season, as he struggled to earn playing time following an Achilles injury suffered his rookie year. He could have a difficult time claiming a roster spot with the Jets, who bolstered their receiver corps this offseason with the additions of Brandon Marshall and second-round draft choice Devin Smith.

Posey (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Posey was inactive last week with no injury, so even if the calf hadn't been an issue, he still may not have cracked the active gameday roster. Damaris Johnson and Keshawn Martin will back up starters DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson.

Posey "has a good chance of being active" for Sunday's game against the Colts, according to head coach Bill O'Brien, the Houston Chronicle reports.
