Finnegan was released by the Saints on Tuesday, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Finnegan was released on Tuesday after signing with the Saints less than a month ago. The team now has just four healthy cornerbacks on the roster as Delvin Breaux and P.J. Williams are likely to open the season as starters. Finnegan, who has previously contemplated retirement, will now hit the open market in the hopes that he can land with a team looking to add veteran depth in the secondary.

Finnegan signed a contract with the Saints on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Finnegan was going to retire before last season, but ended up signing with the Panthers. The veteran cornerback only played five games for Carolina last season, but accrued 18 combined tackles and one pass defended. Clearly, Finnegan is not the player he was four or five years ago, but he provides insurance for the New Orleans secondary should someone go down with an injury. He is currently listed with the second team defense.

Finnegan signed with the Panthers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Finnegan joins Carolina after previously announcing his retirement in March of this year. However, with fellow veteran Charles Tillman currently dealing with a knee injury, the Panthers' secondary could use another experienced cornerback. Now 31 years old, Finnegan totaled 44 tackles and nine passes defended in 12 games for the Dolphins last season.

Finnegan was released by the Dolphins on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Finnegan started all 12 games he played in 2014, but he'll likely have trouble finding another starting job, in the wake of a lackluster season. Having recently turned 31, Finnegan has minimal upside for both real-life and IDP purposes.

Finnegan's first season in Miami was far from a successful one. Finnegan played in 12 games, notching 44 tackles and nine defensed passes but didn't log an interception and was far from a lock down cover corner.

Finnegan (ankle) practiced again Wednesday, the Miami Herald reports. As did Jamar Taylor, with the potential Week 15 return of both cornerbacks good news for a Miami defense looking to contain the 10-3 Patriots' passing game Sunday.

Finnegan (ankle) is expected to play Sunday versus New England, according to the Miami Herald. Finnegan also said Tuesday that if Miami doesn't want him back next season that he will retire rather than go to another team. If Finnegan were to return last season he would count $6.5 million against the cap.
