The Bears have informed Williams (neck) that they do not intend to re-sign him during the offseason, ESPN Chicago reports. The decision isn't much of a surprise after injury issues marred Williams two-year tenure with the Bears, limiting him to just 10 games in 2013 and six in 2014 before landing on IR. The 32-year-old was regularly a 100-plus tackle talent during his prime years with the Broncos earlier in his career, but he looks to be a backup-level player at this point. He should still receive some interest on the open market, assuming he's willing to accept a reduced role with another team.

The Bears have placed Williams (neck) on IR. Williams' 2014 season thus concludes with 46 tackles in 12 games, with the linebacker slated to become a free agent this offseason.

Williams collected four tackles in last Thursday's loss to the Cowboys. After seemingly busting out for 10 total tackles in a 51-23 loss to the Patriots back in Week 8, Williams has since been invisible since the Bears' bye week. He's accumulated just 16 stops over the team's last five games and has seen his snap counts decrease accordingly.

Williams posted 10 tackles in Sunday's 51-23 loss to the Patriots. Tackling opportunities were plentiful in a game in which the Patriots threw only five incompletions on 38 attempts, and Williams was one of the many Bears to take advantage. Even so, it was the first time all season in which Williams reached double digits in tackles, an achievement that's not exactly impressive for a starting middle linebacker. He's not an ideal IDP option at the moment.

Williams (neck) is active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Despite his active status, there is just too much competition for snaps to justify Williams starting in most fantasy IDP leagues.

Williams (neck) is probable for Sunday's game against Miami. The Bears have lots of question marks at linebacker with Lance Briggs (ribs) out and Jon Bostic (back) uncertain, but even with those injuries it's not clear whether they'll have a big role available for Williams.

Williams (neck) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Falcons, the Chicago Tribune reports. Williams' status was downgraded to questionable on Saturday and now the linebacker has be deemed unavailable for Sunday. Therefore, recently promoted linebacker Terrell Manning should play a significant role, along with Khaseem Greene, Darryl Sharpton, and Christian Jones, who will comprise Chicago's starting linebackers Sunday in wake of numerous injuries.

Williams (neck) has been downgraded to questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons. Terrell Manning was signed from the practice squad to provide depth at the linebacker position, with Williams' status for Week 6 now uncertain. Williams hasn't produced enough to warrant serious consideration in most IDP formats anyway, with just 18 tackles (14 solo) in five games so far this season.

Williams accumulated six tackles in Sunday's loss to the Panthers. It marked Williams' second-highest tackle output of the season, but it's not nearly enough for him to keep pace with even the middle-tier IDP options at linebacker. In addition to his meager total of 18 stops through five games, Williams has failed to notch a sack or force a turnover.

Williams supplied nine stops in Monday's 27-19 win over the Jets. After totaling just two stops in his first two games, Williams' performance Monday represented a marked improvement. However, the lack of consistency Williams has shown to this point won't endear him to those in IDP leagues, where reliable tackle totals from week to week are paramount. It's probably best to wait and see if Williams can deliver a performance like Monday's for a few consecutive weeks before investing in him as an IDP option at linebacker.
