Thomas was signed by the Chiefs on Monday, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas spent the preseason with the Chiefs before losing his roster spot to Roy Miller. The 30-year-old now rejoins Kansas City to serve as backup nose tackle, replacing Miller on the 53-man roster in the process.

Thomas was cut by the Chiefs on Saturday, Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas was in line to serve as the backup nose tackle, but the team signed Roy Miller early in August and he ultimately wound up with the job. Given the 30-year-old's experience, there's a chance he gets picked up by another squad.

Thomas signed a contract with the Chiefs on Friday, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas, formerly a 2010 fifth-round pick by the Chargers, fits the mold of a true, two-gap nose tackle. He'll compete with Jarvis Jenkins and Montori Hughes for the backup job to starting defensive tackle Bennie Logan.

Thomas failed to record a tackle, playing just six defensive snaps in Pittsburgh's 27-17 win over Cincinnati on Sunday night. With only 18 tackles including one half sack Thomas' first season with Pittsburgh was his worst since his rookie season with San Diego in 2010.

Cam Thomas is currently penciled in as the Steelers' starting left end. Thomas was a 3-4 nose tackle with San Diego last year, but the Steelers plan to use him at five-technique end opposite Cameron Heyward. Still only 27 years old, Thomas offers some upside as a two-gap lineman whose primary responsibility will be run stopping. He likely won't play on passing downs. The Steelers lean on their linebackers and Dick LeBeau's zone blitzes to create pressure.

The Steelers plan to use Cam Thomas at five-technique defensive end. Thomas played nose tackle at North Carolina and with the Chargers, but the Steelers envision him as a two-gap space eater at left end. Thomas was an inconsistent run defender in San Diego, but has never lacked talent and is only 27. Steve McLendon will stay at nose tackle. Cam Heyward is the other end.

Steelers signed NT Cam Thomas, formerly of the Chargers, to a two-year contract. It was Thomas' only visit of free agency. He appeared in all 16 games in 2013, starting ten, and made 23 tackles. Thomas is best against the run but isn't a game changer and doesn't generate much pressure as a pass rusher. His addition could force NT Steve McLendon to one of the end spots, replacing departed Ziggy Hood.

The Steelers will host free agent NT Cam Thomas on Friday. Thomas has never lacked talent, but his consistency has been a huge issue in the pros, and he was benched late last season for Sean Lissemore. If you've never head of Lissemore, we don't blame you. Thomas is 27 years old.

Chargers NT Cam Thomas has lost his starting job to Sean Lissemore. Thomas has started ten games this season, but he and Lissemore have been rotating. The Chargers are surrendering 115.8 yards on the ground per game, good for the No. 19 spot in the league. 27-year-old Thomas, who is in a contract year, has graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 56 defensive tackle out of 69 qualifiers. Lissemore was acquired from the Cowboys in the summer.
