Gibson rushed 24 times for 64 yards and two touchdowns and brought in both targets for 14 yards in Washington's 29-19 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson put an exclamation point on Washington's upset win against the defending champs with his second one-yard touchdown of the contest. The score capped off a 19-play, 80-yard march that absorbed 10:26 of the fourth quarter and saw Gibson log a whopping nine carries. Gibson's multi-score tally was his second of the season, but he'll have a significant roadblock in trying to replicate it against a stingy Panthers defense in Week 11.

Gibson (shin) has no injury designation for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson will continue to play through a shin fracture and work as Washington's lead runner, but he did run into trouble before the Week 9 bye, finishing three straight games with no touchdowns and less than 60 total yards while playing no more than 42 percent of offensive snaps. That, after playing at least 55 percent of snaps in Washington's first five games, with 432 total yards and four TDs. Part of it seems to be the shin injury, and part of it is J.D. McKissic getting more playing time with Washington playing from behind. Whatever the case, a bye week won't necessarily have fixed the problem, especially given the difficult Week 10 matchup against Tampa's stout front seven. That said, Gibson will suit up Sunday for a ninth time in nine games this season, and he's thus far recorded at least 11 touches in every contest

Gibson (shin) was limited at practice Thursday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Washington continues to manage the stress fracture in Gibson's shin, which contained him to between 31 and 56 percent of the offensive snaps in the five contests before the team's Week 9 bye. He still was productive during that span, averaging 15.4 touches for 60.2 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring three touchdowns. Though he's been limited for the team's first two practices of Week 10, Gibson told Peter Hailey of NBC Sports Washington on Wednesday that he's feeling better physically coming out of the bye week. Even so, Gibson's injury is unlikely to fully heal until after the season, meaning that he could continue to cede work to No. 2 back J.D. McKissic, who notched 10 touches for 65 total yards per game and had one score in the same five-game period prior to the bye.

Gibson (shin) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson played through a stress fracture in his shin in each of Washington's five games before a Week 9 bye, racking up 77 touches for 301 yards from scrimmage and three TDs. In the same time span, change-of-pace back J.D. McKissic totaled a 50-325-1 line, respectively. Gibson appears to be operating under similar practice limitations from before the midseason respite, so his status should continue to be watched to ensure he's out there on game days.

Gibson carried the ball eight times for 34 yards and caught all three of his targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
His 11 touches exactly matched both J.D. McKissic (three carries, eight catches) and rookie Jaret Patterson (11 carries), with McKissic significantly out-producing both his backfield mates. While Gibson was cleared off the injury report prior to Sunday's game, Washington's treatment of the second-year back was a clear sign he isn't 100 percent, but he'll get some extra time to heal up during a Week 9 bye.

Gibson (shin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Denver, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson will continue playing through his stress fracture and figures to continue dominating Washington's rushing volume, but he has lost a few more snaps to pass-catching specialist J.D. McKissic in recent weeks, in part because Washington regularly has been chasing deficits. While the shin injury also may be a factor, Gibson still has 12 or more touches in every game this season.

Gibson (shin) is participating at Friday's practice, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson has practiced as a limited participant this week due to the shin issue, and it appears he'll at least be working in that capacity again Friday. The 23-year-old played after being considered questionable for last week's loss to the Packers, though he saw action on only 41 percent of the offensive snaps. He still had 16 touches in the contest, but it's clear the hairline fracture in his shin is a limiting factor. Gibson appears on track to play Sunday at Denver, but he could continue to have similar limitations.

Gibson (shin) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Washington continues to place a cap on Gibson's practice reps, but the limitations haven't impacted his ability to play through a stress fracture in his shin over the last four games. During that stretch, he's combined for 66 touches for 247 yards from scrimmage and three TDs, while No. 2 running back J.D. McKissic concurrently earned 39 touches for 99 total yards and one score. Clearly, Gibson is the top back in an offense beset by injuries, making him a must play on a weekly basis.

Gibson (shin) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson has managed to play through a hairline fracture in his shin for four consecutive outings, during which he's combined for 58 carries for 218 yards and three touchdowns to go with eight catches (on nine targets) for 29 yards. J.D. McKissic, Gibson's backfield mate, actually has out-snapped the latter over the last two contests, but he's only accounted for 39 touches for 232 yards from scrimmage and one score during that same four-game stretch. Considering Gibson again was limited Wednesday, he doesn't seem to be in danger of sitting out Week 8 in Denver, but his status nonetheless should be monitored as the week goes on.

Gibson ran for 51 yards on 14 carries against Green Bay on Sunday while catching two passes on two targets for five yards.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson continues to play through a hairline shin fracture that appears to be hindering him as a runner, and his sluggish 2021 rushing production to this point seems to support that idea. Through seven games, Gibson has 408 yards and three touchdowns on 103 carries, leaving him with an average of 4.0 yards per carry and just one 20-yard carry after producing five carries of 20-plus yards at 4.7 yards per carry over 170 attempts in 2020. Washington has a bye week in Week 9, but first it has to go to Denver on Sunday in Week 8.
