Holmes has a new teammate in the receiving corps after the Bills signed Anquan Boldin to a one-year deal Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Holmes, listed as No. 2 on the depth chart, was already reported to be having an unimpressive camp. Now he has Rod Streater on his heels, rookie Zay Jones ready to make his mark, and the veteran and red-zone capable Boldin in the mix. Given that this is going to be a run-heavy offense, we'd avoid Holmes no matter where the team lists him following the Boldin signing.

Although Holmes has been lining up as the No. 2 receiver during training camp practices, he's yet to stand out and has failed to make big plays, Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The job just isn't going to be handed to Holmes, especially with the similarly sized Rod Streater standing out behind him. There's also rookie Zay Jones, whom the Bills picked early in the second round, as well as offseason acquisition Philly Brown. Holmes better start making plays as the preseason picks up.

Holmes has been getting most of the first-team snaps opposite Sammy Watkins at training camp, Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Zay Jones, the team's second-round pick, has been serving as the third receiver in three-wide sets. Holmes has the early advantage, but there's still plenty of time for Jones, Philly Brown or a dark horse candidate to push the former Raider for the No. 2 job. The role probably will entail fewer targets than on other teams, as the Buffalo offense revolves around LeSean McCoy and Tyrod Taylor's legs, with Watkins accounting for a big chunk of the targets if he's healthy.

Holmes, who was already coming off a strong set of OTAs, continued to impress the coaching staff at last week's minicamp, The Buffalo News reports. "I'll tell you the guy that's really stood out has been Andre," coach Sean McDermott said. "He's done a phenomenal job, not only on offense, but also special teams. Very solid performer day to day, consistent and just really - that's been a nice pickup for us so far and I really appreciate his leadership."
EDGE Analysis
It looks like it's going to be Holmes and rookie Zay Jones battling it out for the No. 2 spot next to Sammy Watkins. Jones offers more upside, but some seem to be expecting a bit much out of the rookie right away -- one that's already been injured this spring -- that's never played an NFL down. Holmes doesn't exactly have an eye-popping resume, but he did occasionally produce some meaningful numbers with the Raiders (he posted a 47/693/4 line in 2016), and at 6-4 and 210 pounds offers the best size of any Bills receiver in line to receive playing time.

With Sammy Watkins (foot) and Zay Jones (knee) sidelined during OTAs, Holmes has been seeing plenty of action while demonstrating smooth route running and good field awareness, John Murphy of BuffaloBills.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Everyone seems to want to pencil Jones into that No. 2 starting wideout spot, but that may be jumping to conclusions considering the rookie played his college ball at East Carolina, has yet to play an NFL down, and is now injured. Holmes seems like the safer play if the Bills choose to go that route, as he has plenty of experience and did catch 47 balls (four TD catches) for the 2014 Raiders. Assuming Jones gets back to health quickly, this might end up being a pretty good job battle this summer.

Holmes, signed in March to help the Bills rebuild their depleted receiving corps, will have some added competition after the team drafted Zay Jones in the second round last weekend.
EDGE Analysis
The Bills traded up to get the rookie from East Carolina, and the talk already has him getting a fair shake at the vacant No. 2 position. Holmes of course offers more experience than Jones, though he's produced 25 or less catches in four of his five NFL seasons and doesn't have anywhere near the youngster's upside. That said, rookies have struggled to quickly grasp the pro game before, so consider this an open three-way battle for now, with Philly Brown also in the running.

Holmes will be part of an open battle for the starting job across from Sammy Watkins, The Buffalo News reports
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Sean McDermott said he expects his No. 2 wideout to emerge from the players already on the roster, but that assessment could change in a hurry if the Bills select a receiver in the early rounds of the upcoming draft. The current group includes Holmes, Philly Brown, Dez Lewis, Jeremy Butler, Walter Powell and Kolby Listenbee, with only Brown and Butler having recent experience handling major roles in an offense. Holmes did have 693 receiving yards for the Raiders in 2014, but he needed 98 targets to get there in a talent-deficient offense. His role declined drastically after the team added Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, with Holmes catching only 28 passes in 32 games over the past two years. He'll turn 29 before training camp and may have to fight for a roster spot.

Holmes has signed with the Bills, the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The signing was lingering all week and finally becomes official Saturday. It seems likely the Bills will take a wideout in the first or second round of the upcoming draft in an effort to land a guy to slot in opposite Sammy Watkins as a starting wideout. Such a scenario will leave Holmes and a host of other journeymen or unproven youngsters -- the Bills have now added four receivers to the roster this week alone -- for the No. 3 and depth wideout spots.

ESPN's Mike Rodak relays that both Holmes and a Bills spokesperson indicated that as of now the wideout has not signed with Bills.
EDGE Analysis
ESPN's Dan Graziano previously noted that Holmes was in line to sign a three-year, $4.5 million deal with the Bills, but evidently such a deal has not been finalized. For the time being at least, the 28-year-old wideout remains a free agent.

Holmes signed a three-year, $4.5 million contract with the Bills on Wednesday, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Holmes has spent the last four years with the Raiders and is coming off a 2016 campaign where he pulled in just 14 receptions for 126 yards and three touchdowns. He'll provide additional depth at the wide receiver position for the Bills and while he very well could see more targets, his move to Buffalo doesn't necessarily carry with it a huge jump in value.
