Free agent Marcus Camby is rehabilitating his left foot and remains on target to return in 2014. He had surgery on his torn plantar fascia back in October and was expected to miss only 2-3 months. "I'm doing good," Camby said. "I'm able to jog on a treadmill now. So just still in therapy." He added he's hoping to be back on the court in a month or so, meaning he won't be back in action until around the All-Star break at best. Fantasy owners can ignore him for now.

Rockets waive C Marcus Camby. Camby will have surgery on his torn plantar fascia and may or may not try to resume his career afterwards. If not, he's expected to go into coaching. He had a great career but has been slowed down by nagging injuries over the last few seasons.

Marcus Camby (torn plantar fascia) intends to play in the NBA this season once his foot heals. "I'm ready to get this surgery and get back on the court ASAP," Camby said, according to Yahoo! Sports. "My hunger and drive for a [championship] is fueling my return to the court." While his competitive spirit is refreshing, there's no reason to own him in any fantasy formats.

The Rockets will waive Marcus Camby (foot) on Monday. Camby is out indefinitely with a torn plantar fascia. Kevin McHale respects Camby and it's possible he'll join the coaching staff in a player development role, or be re-signed during the season once he's healthy enough to play.

Marcus Camby (torn plantar fascia) is still rehabbing his injury, although it sounds like surgery may be inevitable, as Camby says he's tried "everything else." "Surgery has always been the last resort," he said. "I think we pretty much have done everything else. We'll give it a little more time before we make that decision." It would be shocking if Camby doesn't have foot surgery this season and if he does, there's no telling how many games he might appear in. We'll put the over/under at 20, and remind you to ignore him on draft day.

Marcus Camby (torn plantar fascia) will consult with doctors on Friday to discuss potential surgery. If he opts for surgery Camby is expected to miss "a couple months." "I still have the second half of the season and a long playoff push that we expect to have here in Houston," Camby said. Whether or not he opts for surgery, Camby is looking at an extended layoff to begin the regular season. When he returns, he'll serve as depth behind Dwight Howard and Omer Asik.

Marcus Camby has a torn plantar fascia and will miss at least another two weeks. "I'm trying to do whatever I can to avoid surgery," Camby said. "We're just going to rehab it and see how it goes in the next two weeks and take it from there. We don't want to rehab it and nurse it and have it still be lingering." With foot surgery still a possibility, and minutes at center dominated by Dwight Howard and Omer Asik, there's no silver lining for the 39-year-old's fantasy outlook.

Big men Marcus Camby and Greg Smith will not be ready to practice with the Rockets on Saturday, the team's first official practice of the season. We aren't sure of the specific reasons why, but if we had to guess on Camby, we'd go with 'knee.' He's going to miss a ton of games this year with random injuries and soreness, and the fact he's already out for practice No. 1 is not a good sign.

Kevin McHale told Marcus Camby that there will be games this season in which he won't leave the Rockets' bench. Camby summed up his role succinctly, saying, "I just want to play defense and rebound and lead by example." He has embraced an expanded off-court role as a mentor, especially for big men Dwight Howard and Omer Asik. He also plans to coach when his playing days are over, something he hopes to transition toward under McHale this season.
