Kelenna Azubuike discussed signing with the French team ASVEL but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement. It's been a long time since we've heard about Azubuike, whose promising career was derailed by a horrible knee injury in 2009. He was waived by the Cavaliers last year after forgettable stints in the D-League and with the Mavericks, and it's unclear if he'll be able to mount another comeback attempt in the NBA or anywhere else.

The Cavaliers have waived swingman Kelenna Azubuike. The Cavs owe Azubuike a guaranteed $1.1 million, which makes this somewhat surprising, but obviously they weren't impressed with him during training camp. He's returning from a series of knee surgeries and may never regain his old athleticism, but we wouldn't be surprised if another team adds him to their roster.

Kelenna Azubuike, coming off a lost season with a torn left patella, says he's 100 percent healthy and ready to have a good season for the Cavaliers. If he truly is healthy, he could emerge as a sleeper in fantasy - especially if rookie Dion Waiters struggles early in the season. Keep an eye on him throughout training camp and the preseason.

Kelenna Azubuike is said to be "moving well" on his surgically reconstructed knee and could be a factor on the wing for the Cavaliers this season, according to Cavs GM Chris Grant. Azubuike's promising career was cut short after he tore his left patella tendon in 2009, but he appears to finally be moving well again. And given the Cavaliers lack of depth and experienced talent on the wings, it's possible that Azubuike could make some noise this season. We're not ready to tell you to draft him, but he's definitely worth keeping an eye on in training camp in case his knee has finally made a full recovery. He averaged 14 points, five rebounds and more than a 3-pointer per game for the Warriors in 2008-09 before suffering the knee injury that limited him to a total of 12 games over the past two seasons.

The Cavaliers plan to invite Kelenna Azubuike to training camp to "see if he can still play" -- if not, they'll be in the market for a backup SG. Rookie Dion Waiters is expected to start at SG, while backup Daniel Gibson is recovering from a torn tendon in his foot, so Azubuike's health is important for Cleveland. He's a 40.9 percent 3-point shooter for his career, but multiple knee surgeries have obliterated his fantasy value and cast doubt upon his future in the NBA. Hopefully the 28-year-old swingman will have a positive training camp.

Byron Scott isn't sure whether Kelenna Azubuike will help the Cavaliers this season, but he does believe Azubuike has recovered from multiple knee surgeries. "If he's healthy, from what I saw in the past, he can play," said Scott. "He could help us. But right now, it's two or three years later with a couple of surgeries, so I've got to see him on the basketball court.'' Azubuike is still 28 years old, so we're not ruling out the possibility that he'll become a rotation player again.

Kelenna Azubuike was traded from the Mavericks to the Cavaliers as part of Thursday's draft-day deal for No. 17 pick Tyler Zeller. Azubuike made three brief appearances for the Mavs last season, a great sign after he needed two surgeries to repair a torn left patella tendon -- the first surgery was reportedly "botched." His health is the huge question mark here, but at full strength he's good enough to compete for a starting job.

Kelenna Azubuike made his second appearance of the season on Saturday, going scoreless in four minutes. Azubuike won't make any impact this year, but it's great to see him back in an NBA uniform after a devastating knee injury. Keep an eye on him this summer.

Mavericks recalled Kelenna Azubuike from the D-League. With Lamar Odom leaving the team and Jason Kidd (groin) resting, the Mavs need bodies. Azubuike will be depth on the wing behind Vince Carter, Shawn Marion, Jason Terry and Roddy Beaubois.

Mavericks assigned G/F Kelenna Azubuike to the Texas Legends of the D-League. This is the fourth blurb for Azubuike today after not having one all year, so it's been a busy day for the freshly signed swingman. He'll head to the D-League for some needed playing time.
