Richardson will return to the Heat's active roster Sunday and should serve as emergency depth in the backcourt despite seeing double-digit minutes in just four of 13 games with the Heat this season.

With Goran Dragic (wrist) missing his first contest of the season and Tyler Johnson (shoulder) still sidelined, Beno Udrih entered the starting lineup at point guard, allowing Richardson to fill in as the backup. It was just the second appearance in six games for Richardson, who will likely see his spot in the rotation disappear entirely once either Dragic or Johnson is cleared to return.

Richardson (coach's decision) didn't see the court in Tuesday's loss to the Timberwolves.

Richardson had seen some run in the Heat's previous two games with Dwyane Wade (personal) and Gerald Green (suspension) missing some time, but with both players available for Tuesday's game, the rookie was dropped from the rotation. With Tyler Johnson, Gerald Green, and presumably Beno Udrih making up coach Erik Spoelstra's preferred backcourt reserves, there will be little opportunity for Richardson to carve out a role.

Richardson started for Dwyane Wade (personal) Thursday against the Jazz and posted eight points (3-5 FG, 2-3 3Pt) and three rebounds in 21 minutes of action.

Richardson saw an opportunity to produce more than usual, but he didn't make the most of it. He's now played in just three games this season, and it's hard to see him contributing much from a fantasy perspective, especially when Dwyane Wade is healthy.

The Heat's second-round pick put in a considerably impressive performance while amassing what was his highest total of minutes by far in four preseason games. Presently looking up at a trio of veterans and first-round pick Justise Winslow on the shooting guard depth chart, Richardson nevertheless opened eyes during his extended playing time Tuesday. His offensive touch was on display, but his defensive efforts, highlighted by his three swipes, also helped underscore the complete package that Richardson brings to the court. The rookie's development over the balance of the exhibition slate will be one of the more interesting developments to monitor on a Heat team vying to return to the postseason in 2015-16.
