Maxiell played in 61 games this season, but played just 14 minutes per game and averaged 5.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in that time. Maxiell signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Hornets for 2014-15 and the team decided to fully guarantee his contract in January. The only time Maxiell was on the court playing valuable minutes was when Al Jefferson was out of the rotation with an injury. With that said, when Maxiell was on the court, he was a fairly effective rebounder and interior defender despite his lack of height and length. Regardless, Maxiell will now enter the offseason as a free agent, and while he still, at age 32, should have a few good years left in him after 10 NBA seasons, it is entirely up in the air as to whether a team will need what Maxiell has to offer or not.

Maxiell will have his contract guaranteed for the remainder of the season, Sportando reports. Maxiell has been on a non-guaranteed contract this season, but the Hornets will make the call to fully guarantee his deal for the remainder of the season. The former Cincinnati standout has played valuable minutes of late with Al Jefferson (groin) out, logging at least 16 minutes in each of the team's last four games. While he's not much of an offensive threat, Maxiell is a solid rebounder and adequate interior defender, despite his lack of size.

Maxiell played a season-high 29 minutes and provided three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 FT) and eight rebounds in the win over the Magic on Saturday. Maxiell had only played garbage minutes in December before Al Jefferson (groin) went down. He has averaged 22.3 minutes for 5.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in his last three games. The veteran power forward could be of use for rebounds in deeper leagues.

Maxiell has managed to play in all six games this season but is averaging just 13.8 minutes on the court. Maxiell isn't expected to topple the 20-minute threshold on any given night, but he's a solid option in the rotation and will be handy if frontcourt injuries become a factor in Charlotte. As for now, Maxiell is only an option in the deepest of leagues that can withstand his limited production off the bench.

Maxiell should make the opening-day roster, the Charlotte Observer reports. Maxiell signed with the Hornets in September on a non-guaranteed deal so it wasn't a lock he'd make the final roster. Now that he's made the team, he should offer reserve depth at the power forward position, behind the likes of Marvin Williams, Cody Zeller, and Bismack Biyombo.

Maxiell will sign with the Hornets on Friday, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports. Maxiell's deal won't be guaranteed, but he'll have a chance to play his way into the Hornets' 15th and final roster spot during the preseason. The undersized forward spent last season with the Magic, appearing in 34 games and making 13 starts before being waived in July. Maxiell is an excellent rebounder for his size but doesn't offer much offensively outside of the paint.

The Magic have waived veteran forward Jason Maxiell. His contract, worth $2.5 million, was set to become guaranteed on July 10, so this was an expected move. Maxiell has career averages of 5.9 points, and 4.3 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game; he is not a fantasy option in any format.

Jason Maxiell (personal) is not with the team and will not play on Sunday. He has been out of the lineup since Jan. 28 and has only played in two games since Jan. 15. The Magic won't be missing Maxiell at all with Nikola Vucevic back and healthy.

Jason Maxiell started at center in place of Nikola Vucevic (sprained ankle) and had six points, six rebounds, two steals and three blocks in 43 minutes. You would have thought he could have done a little more with all those minutes, but the steals and blocks were nice. Maxiell hasn't been doing much at all this season and should return to obscurity once Vucevic is back, which should be soon.
