The Sixers were reportedly "close to a deal" sending Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes to the Hawks in exchange for Josh Smith prior to the trade deadline, sources told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

We'd imagine something more than Turner and Hawes would have been included in the proposal, because on its face it's not a very good deal for Atlanta at all. Smith will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, and while his asking price may scare of some suitors, he should have a list of teams chasing after him.
