Kaun revealed in an interview Saturday with Gary Bedore of the Lawrence Journal-World that he will retire from professional basketball. "I was very blessed and fortunate to play as long as I have. I had a great experience for the [Russian] national team and professionally. Overall, it's been phenomenal."
EDGE Analysis
After being selected in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft, Kaun played eight seasons for Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow before making his NBA debut with the Cavaliers in 2015-16. He and teammate Timofey Mozgov would go on to become the first Russian-born players to win an NBA title after the Cavs defeated the Warriors in the NBA Finals, but Kaun played a very minimal role in the team's overall success, appearing in no postseason contests and just 25 regular-season contests, averaging 3.8 minutes per game. The 31-year-old was recently traded to the 76ers this offseason and subsequently released, but he still had opportunities to play overseas or join an NBA team on a training camp invite had he chosen to keep playing. Kaun said that an ankle injury has presented problems for him throughout his career, and with the pain worsening as he's aged, he decided it was best to preserve his health for the long haul.

Kaun was waived by the Sixers on Sunday, Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kaun was traded to the Sixers merely as a way for the Cavaliers to clear cap space to sign Chris Andersen, while the Sixers were still able to benefit with cash considerations from the deal. The 31-year-old center saw action in just 25 games during his rookie season, but will now have to hope for a training camp invite in order to earn his way on to a regular season roster. Even if he makes a team, he's not expected to be a fantasy relevant player.

Kaun was traded to the 76ers on Friday, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Philadelphia sent the rights to Chukwudiebere Madaubum on Friday in order to acquire Kaun from the Cavaliers. However, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Cavaliers made this move to clear space to sign Chris Andersen. The 31-year-old Kaun appeared in 25 games last season, averaging 3.8 minutes per outing. He does not figure to be a major piece of the 76ers' rotation in 2016.

Kaun (coach's decision) was inactive for Monday's Game 5 win over the Warriors.
EDGE Analysis
Kaun hasn't played in any of the Cavs' 19 postseason games to date. Don't look for that trend to change in Thursday's Game 6 and Cleveland, when the Cavaliers will look to even the series at 3-3.

Kaun (coach's decision) was inactive for Sunday's 100-99 Game 4 win over the Hawks.
EDGE Analysis
Kaun hasn't appeared in any of the Cavs' eight postseason contests, and he'll likely continue to remain in street clothes throughout the playoffs unless the team loses a player or two due to injury.

Kaun was recalled from the D-League on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Kaun was just assigned to the Canton Charge earlier in the day, so it's unclear why the Cavs have decided to recall both he and Jordan McRae. Both players will be available Monday night against the Hawks, though neither is likely to make much of an impact.

Kaun was assigned to the D-League on Monday.

Kaun has appeared in only 23 games for Cleveland this season, essentially serving as the team's 15th man. He'll join the Canton Charge as they begin an Eastern Conference Finals series against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Monday night.

Kaun (coach's decision) has appeared in just one of the Cavaliers' last 14 games.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old rookie has been active for most of February with Matthew Dellavedova (hamstring) unavailable, but Kaun will likely start wearing street clothes for games more regularly once Dellavedova is healthy. Kaun, who is averaging 0.9 points in 4.2 minutes during his 10 appearances on the season, ranks as the last player on the Cavaliers' roster.
