Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Tyler Thornburg (thoracic outlet surgery) is likely to be activated from the disabled list Tuesday or Wednesday. Thornburg had surgery last June and has been fairly underwhelming in his rehab outings. It is likely that Thornburg probably will not be vaulted into any high leverage situations right away. As a non-closer relief pitcher that is coming off major shoulder surgery, Thornburg should not be owned in fantasy.

Thornburg allowed one hit in one inning while striking out three batters. Thornburg struck out two batters with the curveball and one with the fastball. It was also a good sign that Thornburg worked between 92-95 mph. There is no timetable set for Thornburg, so leave him on the waiver wire.

Manager Alex Cora stated Thornburg threw 33 pitches on Monday, according to Evan Drellich of NBC Boston Sports. Thornburg's velocity returned in his last extended spring training game. There is still no word on whether he incorporated his offspeed pitches on Monday. Until he does that, he will likely need another rehab start before even being considered in a minor league rehab stint.
