Travis Hafner told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he is hoping to continue his playing career. Hafner agreed this week to join the baseball coaching staff at Notre Dame College in Ohio, but it's only a volunteer position and he can leave at any time. The 36-year-old hit just .202/.301/.378 for the Yankees in 2013 and is mostly limited to DH duties.

According to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish, Travis Hafner has joined the coaching staff of Notre Dame College in Ohio. No word on whether this officially means retirement, but Hafner likely hasn't drawn much interest this winter after batting just .202/.301/.378 over 299 plate appearances last season with the Yankees. He turns 37 in June.

Travis Hafner (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list Wednesday. Hafner has been out since July with a rotator cuff strain. The Yankees are all but eliminated from playoff contention, but Pronk is at least feeling well enough to likely fill a pinch-hitting role over the final games.

Yankees transferred DH Travis Hafner from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. It was a procedural move to open a 40-man roster spot for new reliever Mike Zagurski. Hafner, who has ben out since July with a rotator cuff strain, is aiming to rejoin the Yankees' active roster in late September.

Travis Hafner (shoulder) recently played in a simulated game. He's not ready to play in a second one yet, though, so things might not have gone so well in the first one. The Yankees are hoping to get Hafner back sometime this month.

Travis Hafner (shoulder) hopes to begin taking batting practice by the end of this week. Hafner is currently limited to "tee and toss" work but is about ready to face live pitching. The veteran designated hitter has been out since late July with a rotator cuff strain. He should be back in mid-September.

Yankees placed DH Travis Hafner on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 27, with right rotator cuff strain. Hafner has been playing through soreness for a while and finally decided it was too much to handle. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be sidelined. Derek Jeter is taking his spot on the roster.

Travis Hafner will be placed on the disabled list. The move will probably be made official on Sunday, with Derek Jeter (quad) returning in a corresponding roster move. Hafner has been playing through shoulder soreness for a while and it has depressed his numbers significantly. He'll spend the next few weeks getting healthy.

Travis Hafner (shoulder) is not in the Yankees' lineup Saturday. Hafner will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder and should be considered day-to-day. Alfonso Soriano will serve as the Yankees' designated hitter Saturday against the Rays.
