Ahmed is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins. Ahmed tallied four hits and two RBI over his last two games, but manager Chip Hale decided to hold him out Thursday. Cliff Pennington will get the start at shortstop in Ahmed's place.

Ahmed went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Tuesday against the Marlins. Despite a tough start to the season, Ahmed has been better of late, posting a .412 average over his last 17 at-bats with hits in the last five straight games in which he had an at-bat. That said, the hot streak only boosts his season line to .181/.260/.191 and he still doesn't belong on a roster in most fantasy leagues despite the fact that his defense will keep getting him playing time in Arizona.

Ahmed is out of the lineup Monday against the Marlins. Ahmed will remain on the bench for the second straight game as Chris Owings gets the nod at shortstop, as was the case Sunday afternoon. The 25-year-old has hit safely in each of his last four games, and he'll look to continue improving upon his sub-par season average of .165 (15-for-91) upon his return to the lineup.

Ahmed is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies. Ahmed has begun to come around at the plate lately with a four-game hitting streak, but with an ugly .165/.176/.248 batting line for the season, he still has a long way to go before he becomes a respectable everyday option in the middle infield. Chris Owings will move over from his usual spot at second base to fill in for Ahmed at shortstop.

Ahmed extended his hitting streak to four games by going 1-for-3 with an RBI on Saturday against the Phillies. Nevertheless, he will take a seat on the bench Sunday. Ahmed's season line is still a miserable .165/.248/.176, but he he been slightly better lately with a .238 average in his last 21 at-bats. While he is having some bad luck with a .234 BABIP, he is striking out in 26.5 percent of his plate appearances, which makes it very difficult for him to use his speed to get on base.

Ahmed is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies. Ahmed will get the day off after starting four straight games at shortstop, giving way to Chris Owings while Aaron Hill takes over at the keystone. Despite a four-game hit streak, the defensive-minded Ahmed is slashing just .165/.248/.176 on the year.

Ahmed went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored Tuesday in a win over the Nationals. Ahmed's defense keeps him in the lineup despite a .150/.244/.163 batting line. His performance at the plate isn't improving much with more exposure either - these two singles were his first hits in five games. Despite a strong season at Triple-A Reno last year, Ahmed doesn't have a track to suggest that a breakout is imminent and he simply can't help your fantasy team at this point.

Ahmed is out of the lineup for second half of Wednesday's doubleheader. The fact that Ahmed's batting average is still below .150 and it's a week into May does not bode well for his playing time going forward, at least in the short term. Cliff Pennington will get the start at shortstop in Game 2 on Wednesday.

Ahmed isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers. Ahmed continues to struggle offensively for the Diamondbacks, and he'll get the day off Saturday in favor Cliff Pennington, who will bat eighth for the club.

Ahmed is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies. Ahmed has tallied just two hits since Apr. 16, so manager Chip Hale decided to give him the day off Tuesday. Chris Owings will cover the shortstop position in Ahmed's place Tuesday night, and Aaron Hill will replace Owings at second base.
