Ahmed went 1-for-3 with a walk Friday against the Giants. Ahmed has been better at the plate recently, posting a .250/.375/.250 line over his last 20 at-bats. He has drawn four walks and stolen two bases in the last week, which is encouraging as steals are one of few advantages he can offer in fantasy. If he keeps this up, he can be serviceable in deep and NL-only leagues.

Ahmed went 2-for-4 Tuesday against the Dodgers. After heating up a bit around the end of May, Ahmed has just three hits in his last 17 at-bats. He has posted just a .217/.289/.312 line on the season with three home runs and two stolen bases, rendering his fantasy value minimal. That said, Arizona likes his defense enough that he will keep getting playing time ahead of other players.

Ahmed is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets. Cliff Pennington will slot in at shortstop as Ahmed sits for the second time in four games. Ahmed has followed up his strong month of May (.286/.321/.468) by going 1-for-12 to begin June, though he has drawn four walks already this month.

Ahmed is not in the lineup Wednesday. He offers solid defense without much at the plate. Cliff Pennington will get the start at shortstop Wednesday but Ahmed still figures to be in the lineup most days.

Ahmed is out of the lineup Sunday against the Brewers. Ahmed has managed to string together eight straight starts, but will sit in favor of Cliff Pennington on Sunday afternoon. The 25-year-old shortstop has homered three times in his last eight games, more than doubling his slugging percentage from April to May.

Ahmed went 1-for-4 with his third home run (a solo shot) Friday against the Brewers. This is Ahmed's third home run in the past week, to go along with two doubles and a triple, as he heats up at the plate, posting a .286/.310/.714 line in that span. The hot streak probably ensures he gets a longer leash if he goes back to struggling a bit, as the D-Backs value his defense highly. The power display is a surprise, and not likely to last, so enjoy it now before it disappears.

Ahmed went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Cardinals. Ahmed has hit both of his home runs this season in the past week and has five extra-base hits in that span. He is batting .218/.279/.311 on the season, which is not very fantasy friendly, but his defense keeps him in the lineup for the D-Backs. Despite the playing time and his recent surge, he is still unusable in all but the deepest leagues.

Ahmed went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored Sunday against the Cubs. Ahmed has hits in three straight games and is batting .450 over his last 20 at-bats. His season line is still a weak .216/.281/.279, but it is moving toward respectability. While the hits are starting to drop, Ahmed has not drawn a walk since May 12, a trend will need to change if he is to sustain longer term success against major league pitchers, since he doesn't offer much power to keep them honest.

Ahmed went 3-for-6 with his first home run of the season Friday against the Cubs. He drove in two runs and was caught stealing. Ahmed has gotten very hot after a slow start to the season, batting .500 (8-for-16) over the last seven days. He is pushing his batting line toward respectability, but still has a ways to go at just .212/.281/.260 on the season.

Ahmed is sitting Thursday after going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run, and stealing his first base of the season Wednesday against the Marlins. Ahmed is batting .389 over his last 18 at-bats, but still hasn't gotten to the positive side of the Mendoza line. If he could get on base a bit more often he could be produce double digits in steals, but since he has struggled he hasn't been able to take advantage of his speed. The day off is just routine as manager Chip Hale continues to look for opportunities to get playing time for everyone in a crowded infield.
