Straw went 3-for-4 with a walk, three stolen bases and three runs scored during Sunday's 6-4 win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Straw got on base four times, stealing his way into scoring position three times while crossing the plate three times as well. He ran wild in the minor leagues and has quickly shown that his speed will be a tremendous asset in the majors as well. Straw figures to play regularly until the Houston lineup gets healthy and offers significant fantasy appeal for those in need of stolen bases.

Straw started in left field and batted leadoff Saturday against the Athletics. He went 0-for-4 in a 5-1 win.
EDGE Analysis
Houston's leadoff spot has been a revolving door ever since George Springer (hamstring) landed on the injured list. Manager AJ Hinch has used Josh Reddick and Derek Fisher there recently but wanted to get a right-handed bat atop the order against left-hander Brett Anderson. Straw's speed is a plus, too, but he was unable to get on base ahead of run producers Alex Bregman and Michael Brantley.

Straw was recalled by the Astros on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Exclusively an outfielder in his brief first taste of the big leagues last season, Straw has started 25 games at shortstop for Triple-A Round Rock this year as the Astros looked to add more organizational depth at the position. That depth will now be called upon with Carlos Correa set to miss 4-to-6 weeks with cracked ribs. It's not clear that Straw will be the primary option at the position, however, as the team can slide Alex Bregman over or use Jack Mayfield. When Straw does play, he'll provide a speed boost and a decent batting average but very little power, as he owns a career .270/.357/.332 slash line with 51 steals and one homer in 112 games at the Triple-A level.

Straw will open the season as a shortstop for Triple-A Round Rock, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moving Straw to the infield is something that's been talked about as Houston has a glut of outfielders, some with major-league experience, at Round Rock. The 24-year-old Straw played infield in high school, but in four professional seasons, he's tallied just four innings at short.

Straw is listed as an infielder on Triple-A Round Rock's roster, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Given the glut of outfielders in the Astros' system, this transition should give Straw a better chance of getting playing time for the big club when rosters expand in September. He played one game at shortstop at Triple-A last year, and will presumably also get time at second base this year. Straw would need some injuries to strike the big-league roster for him to reach the majors before September, but his elite speed and solid plate skills would make him very interesting if he ever appeared poised for semi-regular at-bats with the Astros.

The Astros optioned Straw to their minor-league camp Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Straw had been angling for a reserve outfield gig but was ultimately deemed expendable due to the Astros' wealth of options. Once injuries inevitably hit the outfield ranks, Straw could get a look with the big club, but it's unlikely he'll end up seeing steady at-bats at any point. Straw's lack of power makes him better suited as a late-inning replacement for defense or baserunning purposes rather than a full-time player.

Straw is hitting .310 (9-for-29) with nine runs scored and two stolen bases.
EDGE Analysis
Straw's main asset is his speed -- he swiped 70 in the minors in 2018 -- and was on Houston's postseason roster last year solely for that reason. Speed alone, however, is not going to earn a roster spot for the regular season, so he'll need a dynamite final two weeks of spring training at the dish to move past Jake Marisnick and Tony Kemp.

Straw went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-2 win over Baltimore in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader.
EDGE Analysis
The home run was the first of Straw's MLB career and came in his second start since having his contract purchased Sept. 15. The rookie's speed may be an element that manager A.J. Hinch wants in the postseason, perhaps more than Max Stassi, who would serve as a third catcher.

Straw had his contract purchased by the Astros on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Straw has slashed .257/.349/.317 with 35 stolen bases in 38 attempts since being promoted to Triple-A Fresno in mid-June. The 23-year-old is unlikely to work his way into the Astros outfield rotation, but could be a late-inning pinch runner given his base-running prowess in the minors.

Straw was promoted to Triple-A Fresno on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Straw had a strong start to the season for Double-A Corpus Christi, hitting .327/.414/.390, with 35 steals in 65 games. He makes a lot of contact and can do damage on the bases, but his near complete lack of power (just three career homers in four minor-league seasons) makes him likely no more than a bench outfielder at the big-league level.
