Matt Wieters is not in Sunday's lineup. Ronny Paulino is catching and hitting seventh. Wieters is just getting a scheduled day of rest after catching all five games last week.

Matt Wieters was the offensive star for the Orioles Monday, going 4-for-4 with a solo homer in a loss to the Yankees. The first four hitters in the O's order picked up just two hits, but the bottom part was able to do some damage, with Mark Reynolds, Chris Davis and Robert Andino all notching two base knocks. Wieters had just one hit coming into the game, but it was a longball. He'll be one of the top fantasy catchers this season.

Matt Wieters was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a scored in Monday's 4-1 win over the Pirates. Wieters doubled and came around to score in the seventh inning and knocked in a run with a single in the eighth. The 25-year-old backstop has seven hits over his past two games after starting the spring with just four hits over his first 31 at-bats.

Matt Wieters exploded for four hits, including a three-run homer, and six RBI as the Orioles steamrolled the Nationals 12-3 on Saturday. Wilson Betemit, Adam Jones and Wieters combined to go 10-for-10 from the three, four and five spots in the order. Wieters, who had been just 4-for-31 this spring, is expected to open the season batting fifth behind Jones, though it will usually be Nick Markakis in the three hole.

Matt Wieters hit his first spring homer Sunday in the Orioles' 6-3 defeat of the Yankees. Wieters was 2-for-20 this spring before taking Ivan Nova deep in the first inning tonight. It was his only hit in three at-bats, so he's still batting just .130.

The Orioles will introduce new general manager Dan Duquette at a press conference Tuesday morning. The O's officially hired Duquette on Sunday after having multiple candidates drop out of the running for the job. The 53-year-old has a successful history in scouting and player development, and he also has an experience in the GM's seat. But it's hard to say whether the Orioles organization has the resources or good karma to get things turned around in the next several seasons.

The Orioles have signed Dan Duquette to a three-year deal to become the team's new general manager, according to the Associated Press. He's expected to be introduced at a press conference on Monday or Tuesday. The 53-year-old has been out of the game since being dismissed by the Red Sox in 2002, but has over 25 years of experience in MLB. Duquette's primary job at the major league level will be fixing the league's worst pitching staff. He won't be doing so under ideal circumstances. The O's have not finished above .500 since 1997 and have not won more than 70 games since 2006.

Jen Royle of 1057 The Fan in Baltimore reports that the Orioles have completed a deal with Dan Duquette for Duquette to become the team's new general manager. The report has been confirmed by several others, and he's expected to be officially announced on Tuesday. Duquette met with the Orioles for a second time Saturday and was slated to meet with owner Peter Angelos Sunday. He's been viewed as the likely hire for a few days now after others passed on the gig, and a deal seemed inevitable. Duquette hasn't had a job in major league baseball since he was fired by the Red Sox back in 2002, but he has over 25 years of experience in MLB.

Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun thinks the Orioles will offer their general manager job to former Red Sox and Expos GM Dan Duquette. He adds that Yankees vice president and director of amateur scouting Damon Oppenheimer still has to interview and could blow the team away, but as of right now, it appears that Duquette is the man to beat. Duquette hasn't had a job in major league baseball since he was fired by the Red Sox back in 2002, but he at least has over 25 years of experience in MLB. That's something the Orioles, who are getting desperate at this point, could hang their hat on.

Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports that the Twins have denied the Orioles permission to interview vice president Mike Radcliff for their vacant general manager position. It's not clear why the Twins chose to deny the request, but, regardless, the O's can cross another name off their list. After being rebuffed by Jerry DiPoto and Tony LaCava, it appears they'll now select their GM from a list including Red Sox vice president of player personnel and pro scouting Allard Baird, Yankees vice president and director of amateur scouting Damon Oppenheimer, Phillies assistant GM Scott Proefrock and former Red Sox and Expos GM Dan Duquette.
