Matt Wieters (elbow) will do some more throwing on Sunday.
Wieters made about 25 throws Friday with no issues. It was the first time that the catcher tried to do any throwing since being placed on the disabled list nearly three weeks ago with a right elbow strain. He'll remains on an every-other-day progression for a while.

Matt Wieters said Thursday that his right elbow has felt a lot better over the past few days.
Wieters was placed on the disabled list earlier this month due to a right elbow strain and has felt improvement since receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection on May 12. The plan calls for him to test his elbow by throwing on Friday, which is a big hurdle for his potential return.

Matt Wieters (elbow) will try some light throwing on Friday.
Wieters recently said the elbow was feeling better and that throwing could be on the horizon, but Friday would represent a pretty quick timetable. It'll be the first time Wieters has attempted to throw in three weeks. Wieters still has a long road back, but Friday could be a big first step for the 28-year-old.

There remains no timetable for when Matt Wieters (elbow) will resume throwing.
Wieters says he's feeling better and thinks he's close to testing things out, but the Orioles don't have a target date yet. The club recently acquired Nick Hundley to supplement their catching depth and will roll with the former Padre behind the plate for now.

Matt Wieters said Tuesday that the soreness in his right elbow seems to have improved daily since he had a platelet-rich plasma injection on May 12.
However, there's still no timetable for him to resume throwing. The catcher is eligible to return next Monday, but Orioles manager Buck Showalter has already said that's not going to happen. Wieters will undergo surgery if his elbow isn't better by July 1.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Sunday that Matt Wieters (elbow) will not be activated from the disabled list when first eligible on May 26.
Wieters received a shot in his right elbow on Monday in hopes that it will help speed along the healing process. It's not clear at this point how long the catcher will be sidelined, and season-ending surgery will become an option if he's not feeling better by July.

Matt Wieters (elbow) could undergo surgery if he's still unable to throw by July 1.
The Orioles placed Wieters on the disabled list Sunday and will give him 2-3 weeks of rest before he's re-evaluated. He would need nine months to recover from surgery, so they're looking at July 1 as a deadline so that he would be ready for 2015 if an operation is required. The hope, though, is that he'll be fine after a few weeks of rest. Fantasy owners are obviously hoping so, as well, given that Wieters has hit .308/.339/.500 with five homers and 18 RBI in 26 games this season.

Orioles placed C Matt Wieters on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain.
Wieters had been used in the designated hitter spot the last few days, but the Orioles have decided it would be best to give him at least a couple weeks of rest. It's not clear whether he'll be ready to catch when he returns or if he'll still have to get most of his at-bats in the DH spot.

Matt Wieters is not in the Orioles' lineup Sunday.
Wieters had served as the team's DH the previous three games. He's still not able to catch due to his elbow issue, so Steve Clevenger is behind the plate Sunday and Nelson Cruz is in the DH spot.

Matt Wieters is starting at designated hitter again on Friday.
Wieters has yet to be cleared to resume throwing due to his elbow issue, but it doesn't affect him while he's hitting. He figures to spend plenty of time in the DH spot until he can put the injury behind him. Steve Clevenger is at catcher Friday.
