Wieters (elbow) took part in live batting practice Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Wieters has been making solid strides lately, and is tentatively scheduled to serve as the designated hitter in a rehab game Tuesday. There's still no definitive timetable, but the catcher has remained confident that he'll be able to make a return by the start of May. Caleb Joseph figures to continuing seeing the bulk of the action behind the plate during Wieters' absence.

Wieters (elbow) took batting practice off coaches in Sarasota from both sides of the plate Saturday and also threw from 120 feet and caught batting practice, the Baltimore Sun's Eduardo Encina reports.
It sounds like Wieters is making significant progress, although that's what we thought in spring prior to his major setback. Wieters recently said a return for the start of May could be possible, but there is not a specific target date in mind. Caleb Joseph will continue to get the bulk of the starts behind the dish for Baltimore in the short term.

Wieters (elbow) has been throwing every other day for about a week and still has no timetable for return, the Baltimore Sun's Dan Connolly reports.
He will remain in Florida and keep rehabbing, although he says the intensity of his throwing has been slowly picking up. When asked if he could return by the start of May, Wieters said it was possible, but that there is no target date. Caleb Joseph and Ryan Lavarnway will continue to serve as Baltimore's catchers in the meantime.

Wieters (elbow) was officially placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, retroactive to Mar. 27, MLB.com reports.
Wieters will continue to play in extended spring training games in Florida, but it was fully expected that the backstop would start the year on the DL. Caleb Joseph will likely stay behind the plate most days until Wieters is game-ready.

Wieters will remain in Florida to play extended spring training games, Rich Dubroff of CSN reports.
The Orioles have not released a timetable for Wieters' return, but he's expected to begin the season on the DL. It's unknown how long he'll remain in Florida, and the plan is for him to progress through a couple of minor league stops before returning to the Orioles sometime in April.

Wieters (elbow) took the field with the other catchers for a workout before batting practice Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Wieters is expected to begin the season on the disabled list at this point, but a workout marks some progress in his recovery. While no timetable is in place at this point, his status should continue to be monitored as the regular season draws near in case something changes.

Wieters is now expected to start the season on the disabled list, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.
This information is contradictory to some earlier reports we've seen that suggest Wieters would enter the season on the active roster as the team's DH. While the report notes there was no setback with Wieters return from Tommy John surgery, this news is, at the least, a bit worrisome. He will be eligible to return April 11, so if he is able to come back healthy, this absence will not seriously affect his fantasy value.

Wieters (elbow) underwent an X-ray on Thursday, which came back clean, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.
It's uncertain whether the Orioles have any additional exams scheduled, namely an MRI, but this report is encouraging. Wieters, who underwent Tommy John surgery last year, has been diagnosed with tendinitis in his elbow and will be restricted from catching duties for a week. Manager Buck Showalter suggested Wednesday that the team will not keep Wieters on the active roster at the start of the year just to DH.

Wieters is dealing with elbow tendinitis and will refrain from catching duties for a week, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Wieters could serve as the designated hitter as early as Sunday, but manager Buck Showalter indicated he doesn't think the issue will keep him from Opening Day. If it does prevent him from catching, however, he's not expected to serve as the designated hitter, meaning he could begin the season on the disabled list if the issue extends into the regular season.

Wieters will be behind the plate for the first time in spring training for Baltimore's Grapefruit League game Tuesday, MASN Sports reports.
Wieters is right on his scheduled time in making his return behind the dish. He caught minor league games Saturday and Sunday, but there was no report that he had thrown to second base in those games. Wieters should certainly be able to make those throws at this point if he is starting a spring training game. Look for Wieters to get frequent days off over the next week to ease into the role, but it does appear that he is on track for the Opening Day lineup.
