Castillo (2-9) was charged with the loss against the Brewers on Thursday after allowing three runs on one hit and three walks while striking out seven over 5.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't the cleanest first inning for Castillo, who opened the game by hitting a batter while also issuing a walk and giving up an RBI single to Avisail Garcia. The right-hander responded well, however, retiring 11 straight and pitching a 0-2 count on seven of his 15 hitters faced before heading into a 37-minute rain delay after the fourth. Upon returning, Castillo retired four more batters before running into trouble. After the 28-year-old issued two walks and worked for a 10-pitch strikeout, he was pulled in favor of Lucas Sims, who allowed both inherited runners to score. On the season, Castillo has compiled a 6.47 ERA and 1.58 WHIP. He lines up to get another chance with the Brewers on the road next week.

Castillo (2-8) allowed one run on three hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out five and earning a win over St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
The only run to score on Castillo came on a solo shot by Edmundo Sosa in the fifth inning as he produced his best outing in over a month. He had lost his previous seven starts entering Friday's contest, registering a 7.91 ERA through 33 frames during that span. The 28-year-old righty picked up his first win since April 7 and lowered his season ERA to 6.63. Castillo is projected to face the Brewers at home next week.

Castillo (1-8) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Cubs after giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks while fanning three across five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo has found himself at the losing end in each of his last seven outings and has given up at least four runs in all but two of those appearances, so he's clearly moving in the wrong direction. The right-hander has posted a 7.22 ERA and will try to bounce back in his next start, scheduled for next week against the Cardinals on the road.

Castillo (1-7) got the loss Sunday against the Brewers, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks over five innings, striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
After an encouraging outing against the Giants on Tuesday, this outing wiped out that progress. The Brewers jumped on him early, scoring three runs in the first inning, an inning that continues to be a problem for him. He generated 13 whiffs on 44 swings.

Castillo (1-6) recorded 11 strikeouts but was charged with the loss Tuesday against the Giants after giving up three runs on six hits and three walks over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old posted double-digit strikeouts for the first time this season while notching 21 swinging strikes, but he had trouble keeping San Francisco off the basepaths and leads the National League with six losses. Castillo has a 7.44 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB across 42.1 innings, and he's allowed fewer than three earned runs in only two of nine starts.

Castillo (1-5) was charged with the loss against the Rockies on Thursday after surrendering eight runs on 10 hits and a pair of walks while striking out three across 3.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
There isn't much positivity to pull away from this one. Castillo simply couldn't pull it together at hitter-happy Coors Field. He has now allowed four or more earned runs in five of his eight starts this season while serving up 18 earned runs over his last three starts against the Rockies. The right-hander will look to turn things around Tuesday against the Giants.

Castillo will start Thursday instead of Friday, giving Wade Miley an extra day of rest, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Miley threw 114 pitches in his no-hitter Friday, whereas Castillo had an abbreviated outing the next day. Reds manager David Bell discussed the move's impact on Castillo: "Then Luis, just keeping him on four days' rest, I think was really important. He's trying to get back into the flow. I think a longer break would've been tough for him. I think he wants to get back out there as soon as he can, so I think it did accomplish both."

Castillo is struggling with his changeup and has adjusted his gameplan to throw the pitch less often, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. "What I've seen is about 70% of my pitches are staying in the zone," Castillo said through team interpreter Jorge Merlos. "I'm definitely noticing that and I'm definitely focusing on that, too. What I'm trying to do now is pitch lower so that way we can get more swings and misses and more ground balls."
EDGE Analysis
Castillo's out pitch is his changeup, so it's obviously a big concern when it's not on. He threw 24 changeups against Cleveland on Saturday, drawing 17 swings and only one whiff. It follows that he had only two strikeouts in the short start, with neither of the K's coming on the changeup. Alas, his next start is in Coors Field this week, making it less likely that he fixes his early-season woes.

Castillo (1-4) took the loss Saturday, coughing up six runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks over four innings as the Reds fell 9-2 to Cleveland. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander threw 57 of 84 pitches before getting the hook, as Castillo failed to last six innings for the fifth straight start. His ERA now stands at 6.42 -- exactly double last year's mark -- and he'll take a disappointing 26:10 K:BB through 33.2 innings into his next outing.

Castillo (1-3) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Cubs. He gave up three runs on eight hits and a walk while fanning five across 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo has now lost two outings in a row and continues to look underwhelming, as he has given up three or more earned runs in four of his six appearances to date. This translates to an inflated 6.07 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP -- two figures that would be career-worst marks for the right-hander. He's expected to take the ball next week against Cleveland on the road.
