Castillo didn't factor into the decision during Tuesday's 1-0 win against the Yankees, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out seven in eight scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo has opposed Gerrit Cole and the Yankees in each of his first two starts with Seattle, coming away with a win in his first turn and season-high 81 game score Tuesday. The 28-year-old induced an impressive 20 swinging strikes on 110 pitches and faced the minimum 18 batters between the second and seventh innings. In his last seven starts, Castillo has pitched to a 1.68 ERA with 56 strikeouts across 48.2 innings and his 2.71 ERA and 1.04 WHIP would both rank top 20 in baseball if he had enough innings to qualify. He is scheduled to pitch again next week against the Angels.

Castillo (5-4) picked up the win Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over 6.2 innings in a 7-3 victory over the Yankees. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Making his Seattle debut, Castillo held New York mostly in check until fading late and serving up a two-run shot to Kyle Higashioka in the seventh inning. The right-hander fired 66 of 109 pitches for strikes while delivering his sixth straight quality start and ninth in 10 outings since the beginning of June, and Castillo boasts a 2.77 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 70:23 K:BB through 65 innings over that stretch.

Castillo will start Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo was dealt from the Reds to the Mariners on Friday in a blockbuster deal, and he'll face a tough matchup at Yankee Stadium during his first start with his new team. The right-hander recorded quality starts in his final five appearances with the Reds, posting a 1.59 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 34 innings during that time.

The Mariners are acquiring Castillo from the Reds in exchange for four minor leaguers, including Noelvi Marte, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo has been one of the game's best pitchers over the past couple months, logging a 2.38 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 72 strikeouts in 64.1 innings over his last 10 starts. He gets a massive upgrade in team context, given the change in ballpark, defense and run support. He most recently pitched Thursday, so he could slot into Seattle's rotation early next week in the Bronx. Castillo is under club control through the 2023 season.

Castillo (4-4) earned the win over Miami on Wednesday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo gave up multiple homers for the first time this season, but he nonetheless held the Marlins to three runs to pick up a quality start and a victory. The right-hander racked up 15 swinging strikes and notched exactly eight punchouts for the third consecutive outing. Castillo was excellent in July, posting a 1.93 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB over 28 innings covering four starts. That has further driven up his appeal to contending teams, and Castillo is among the most likely starting pitchers to be dealt ahead of next week's trade deadline.

The Reds are going with a six-man rotation out of the All-Star break through the trade deadline, meaning that Castillo's start Wednesday against the Marlins could be his final one with the team, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo is the most prominent starter likely on the pre-deadline trade market, and given the Reds' non-contending status and the fact it's unlikely they will contend in the near future, he is a good bet to get dealt sometime in the next week. The team will go back to a five-man rotation following the deadline.

Castillo allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out eight in seven innings during Friday's extra-inning win over the Rays. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo posted a 4.07 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 24.1 innings over his first four starts in June but has turned things around since then by logging quality starts in each of his last three appearances. He's recorded a 0.45 ERA and 25:5 K:BB in 20 innings during that time but has picked up just one win over those three starts. The right-hander projects to make his next start on the road against St. Louis next Friday.

Castillo gave up one earned run on six hits and a walk while striking out six over seven innings in a 4-3 win over the Braves on Sunday. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo continued his solid 2022 campaign with another consistent performance which saw him throw more than 100 pitches for the sixth straight game. The workhorse didn't get the win as he was matched up against Charlie Morton who dealt seven scoreless innings, but he did enough to keep his team in the game and the Reds won on a wallkoff single in the ninth. Castillo now has a 66:22 K:BB ratio over 64.0 innings this season. Castillo is expected to make his next start Friday against Tampa Bay.

Castillo (3-4) earned the win Tuesday, allowing five hits and three walks over six scoreless innings against the Cubs. He struck out 11.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo didn't seem to have the best feel for his changeup early on, but he was able to overpower Chicago with the heater -- in fact, all 11 of his punchouts were via the fastball. Overall, Castillo induced 23 swinging strikes on 123 pitches. While he missed time at the start of the season with a shoulder injury and has hit a few small bumps in the road since his return, Castillo will undoubtedly be a popular target for contending teams at the trade deadline.
