Giolito allowed three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out seven across 5.2 innings Friday against the Tigers. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito's stat line from Friday's outing looks a lot worse than it actually was. He wasn't particularly efficient, needing 114 pitches to get through 5.2 innings, but he took a one-hit shutout into the sixth inning before running into some trouble. Giolito surrendered a leadoff single to Jonathan Schoop before walking the next two batters to load the bases. Jorge Bonifacio was able to drive in the first run with a sacrifice fly and then Daz Cameron hit a two-run single to right, forcing Rick Renteria to pull the right-hander. Giolito will take a 3.43 ERA and 1.03 WHIP into his next outing against the Twins on Wednesday.

Giolito (4-2) allowed three runs on five hits and did not walk a batter against the Royals on Saturday. He struck out nine across six innings and earned his fourth win of the season in the process
EDGE Analysis
Giolito had a solid outing Saturday after he was roughed up in his previous start. The right-hander allowed a solo shot to Bubba Starling in the third inning and was eventually replaced in the seventh after surrendering back-to-back hits to begin the frame. Giolito is currently second in the majors with 75 strikeouts, and he has fanned at least eight batters in each of his last four starts. The 26-year-old is scheduled to take the mound next Saturday in what should be a favorable matchup with the Tigers.

Giolito allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out eight over five innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito was less sharp Monday, working on an extra day of rest, following his no-hitter last Tuesday. The five innings were a grind for the right-hander, who needed 94 pitches to get 15 outs, but he was picked up by one of the league's most prolific offenses. Over his last three starts, Giolito has allowed two earned runs while fanning 34 over 21 innings. His next start comes Saturday on the road against the Royals.

Giolito's next start will come Monday against the Twins, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He could have pitched Sunday against the Royals on normal rest, but after throwing 101 pitches in Tuesday's no hitter against Pittsburgh and with the division rival Twins on tap next week, the White Sox will push him back a day. Giolito will now line up for two starts next week. Sunday's starter is to be determined.

Giolito fell to 1-2 on the season after taking the loss in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against St. Louis, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Nearly all of the Cardinals' damage was done in the first inning, a frame in which Giolito allowed seven baserunners without allowing a single extra-base hit. Four singles, a walk and a pair of hit batsmen led to four runs for the visitors. Giolito then settled down to allow just a single unearned run over his next four frames. through five starts, Giolito isn't following up on his breakout 2019 campaign particularly well, struggling to a 4.88 ERA, with his 27.4 percent strikeout rate largely being offset by a 12.8 percent walk rate.

Giolito was wildly effective Sunday, inducing two double plays to get out of trouble. He also retired the last seven batters he faced. The 26-year-old has a 4.37 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 27:13 K:BB across 22.2 innings this season. If he can cut down on the free passes, he should be able to find more success.
