Giolito (hamstring) threw at max effort Tuesday and is expected to throw a bullpen session in the next couple days, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander landed on the injured list Friday with a strained left hamstring, and his quick return to throwing with no limitations confirms the injury as a minor concern. Giolito is expected to require two bullpen sessions before being activated, and he could be in the mix to rejoin the starting rotation next week.

Giolito (hamstring) began playing catch and could throw a bullpen session Wednesday in Oakland, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito, who left Tuesday's start during the fifth inning with a strained left hamstring, was able to play catch by Thursday. He reported feeling much better Friday during his session on the field, which also included a "calculated" running program.

Giolito was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a strained left hamstring.
EDGE Analysis
It already seemed likely that Giolito would miss around 10 days at minimum, but the White Sox made the move official and called up Ryan Burr from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Giolito is eligible to return Sept. 11 against Boston, but it's unclear if he will need more time than that. He'll throw a bullpen Sept. 8 to help evaluate his progress, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

White Sox manager Tony La Russa said Giolito won't be available to make his next turn through the rotation Sept. 7 in Oakland after the right-hander was diagnosed with a strained left hamstring following an exam Wednesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even though a pair of upcoming off days would allow the White Sox to reshuffle their rotation to compensate for Giolito's absence, La Russa suggested that the team would use a spot starter in the 27-year-old's place in Oakland or go with a bullpen game. Because of the flexibility afforded by the two off days and the roster expanding from 26 to 28 men Wednesday, the White Sox aren't expected to immediately place Giolito on the injured list, even though his next start looks like it'll be more than a week from now.

Giolito was removed from Tuesday's start against the Pirates with tightness in his left hamstring.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito appeared to suffer the injury during the fifth inning while attempting to field an infield single, leading to his exit. The 27-year-old won't factor in the decision since he pitched 4.1 innings, and he gave up two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks. The White Sox lost Lance Lynn (knee) to the injured list earlier Tuesday, and it's unclear whether Giolito will also require a trip to the shelf.

Giolito was removed from Tuesday's game against the Pirates with an apparent leg injury, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito appeared to tweak something in his leg while attempting to field an infield single during the fifth inning, and he was pulled after throwing a test pitch. He allowed two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks across 4.1 innings before being removed. The White Sox have scheduled off days Thursday and Monday, so the rotation could be shuffled to provide Giolito some extra rest if he doesn't require a stint on the injured list.

Giolito allowed a run on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts across six innings in a no-decision versus Toronto on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander's lone run conceded came on a Corey Dickerson RBI triple in the fourth inning. Giolito has had a couple of short outings lately, but he's turned in quality starts in three of his last four trips to the mound. The 27-year-old has a 3.68 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 175:43 K:BB through 154 innings overall. He carries a 9-9 record into a projected home start versus Pittsburgh next week.

Giolito didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 7-5 extra-innings win over the Rays, allowing two runs on three hits over seven innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander seemed headed for his 10th win of the season when he exited the game with a 4-2 lead, but Aaron Bummer coughed it up in the eighth inning. Giolito has fanned exactly eight batters in three straight games and has five quality starts in seven outings since the All-Star break, posting a 2.86 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 44:9 K:BB through 44 innings over that stretch.

Giolito (9-9) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks over four innings Sunday, striking out eight and taking a loss against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
All three runs against Giolito came in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run shot off the bat of Rougned Odor. The 6-foot-6 righty labored through four frames, throwing 64-of-101 pitches for strikes and walking more than one batter for the first time in his last four appearances. It's been an inconsistent August for Giolito so far; his eight-inning gem against the Twins is sandwiched between a pair of starts where he allowed a combined nine runs over eight innings, raising his season ERA to 3.83. He's lined up for a road start against the Rays next week.

Giolito improved to 9-8 after holding the Twins to one run over eight innings in Monday's 11-1 victory. He surrendered two hits and walked none while striking out eight in the 103-pitch outing.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito had the luxury of working with plenty of run support after the White Sox jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings, but the right-hander didn't need much cushion in the dominant victory. He faced the minimum amount of batters through seven innings and looked like he might have a shot at a complete-game shutout, but a slightly turbulent eighth inning in which he yielded a solo home run to Miguel Sano prompted the White Sox to hold him out for the final frame. Through five starts since the All-Star break, Giolito has gone 2-2 with a 2.73 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 7.6 K/9.
