Alvarado was recalled from Double-A Montgomery on Wednesday.

He will become the lone lefty in the Rays' bullpen.

After wrapping up a stint with Team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic, Alvarado will now head to minors camp for the remainder of the spring, as he was never under any serious consideration for an Opening Day gig with the Rays.
