Zimmermann (6-8) allowed five runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out just one batter through only 3.2 innings during Saturday's loss to Minnesota.

EDGE Analysis

There have been a few solid stretches from the veteran righty this season, but overall, Zimmermann's 5.81 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 6.4 K/9 are crippling fantasy marks. He's proven to be an unreliable asset since joining the Tigers and is probably best faded outside of the softest matchups. Zimmermann lines up for a daunting test against the Astros at Comerica Park in his next start.

Zimmermann (6-7) held the Royals to one run on seven hits while striking out seven without a walk over 6.2 innings in Monday's win.

EDGE Analysis

Zimmermann displayed pinpoint control in this one, holding the opposition without a walk for the third time this year while tying his season high in strikeouts. Detroit's offense spotted him a 6-0 lead through three innings, making it easier for the veteran right-hander to attack hitters. Zimmermann threw 79 of his 97 pitches for strikes in a surprising return to form after his last three starts before the All-Star break resulted in 14 runs allowed over 12.2 innings. He'll look to build on this outing when he next takes the mound Saturday in Minnesota.

Zimmermann (5-7) gave up five runs on eight hits and a walk in three-plus innings during Friday's 11-2 loss to Cleveland. He struck out two.

EDGE Analysis

All five runs crossed the plate in the third inning, and after Zimmermann gave up a hit and a walk to begin the fourth he got the hook. He showed signs of turning things around in early June but since then the veteran righty has struggled once again, allowing 17 runs in 19.1 innings over his last four starts. Zimmermann will get some time to clear his head before returning to the mound after the All-Star break.

Zimmermann (5-6) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings during Saturday's loss to Cleveland.

EDGE Analysis

After showing positive signs with a 2.70 ERA in four outings to start June, Zimmermann has now allowed 10 runs through 9.2 innings over his past two starts. He owns a 5.58 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 6.4 K/9 for the season, and his 5.77 FIP offers little hope of better upcoming results. A daunting repeat test against Cleveland at Progressive Field is also up next for Zimmermann.

Zimmermann didn't factor into the decision Sunday, allowing five earned runs on six hits in just four innings against the Padres.

EDGE Analysis

The 31-year old Wisconsin native served up a homer in each of the first two innings (to Wil Myers and Erick Aybar), which ultimately led to his shortest outing of the season. Zimmermann managed to maintain his .500 record (5-5) thanks to a pair of two-run innings by the Tigers in the sixth and ninth innings, though. He'll have another shot at win No. 6 in a doubleheader Saturday against the Indians.

Zimmermann allowed three runs on six hits and three walks over 6.2 innings during Tuesday's game against the Mariners. He struck out seven and received a no-decision.

EDGE Analysis

Zimmermann entered the month of June with an unsightly 6.47 ERA but has been able to deflate that number to 5.25 after putting together four consecutive quality starts. In addition, his seven strikeouts Tuesday were the most he's recorded since May 16 of last season. Though the 31-year-old is trending in the right direction, he's still a pitcher that is better left on the waiver wire as he typically doesn't offer enough strikeout upside to be able to stomach his high ERA and WHIP. Zimmermann will square off against the Padres in his upcoming scheduled start on Sunday.

Zimmermann (5-5) gave up two runs on six hits while striking out six over eight innings in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.

EDGE Analysis

Both runs scored in the first inning, but after that Zimmermann shut down the high-powered Arizona attack and kept Detroit in the game, to no avail. It's the 31-year-old's third straight quality start but just his fifth of the season, and he'll try to keep his momentum going Monday on the road in Seattle.

Zimmermann will start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Michael Fulmer was originally tabbed as Wednesday's starter, but for unknown reasons, Zimmermann will move up a day to fill in for the defending Rookie of the Year. This lines up the 31-year-old to face Taijuan Walker in Detroit in an attempt to deliver his second straight quality start.

Zimmermann (5-4) allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three over six innings but came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Red Sox.

EDGE Analysis

The right-hander was in line for the win before Boston scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth off Alex Wilson. Zimmermann threw 64 of 94 pitches for strikes in recording his second straight quality start and fourth of the year, but his 5.72 ERA and 1.55 WHIP are still a lot way from satisfactory. He'll next take the mound Thursday at home against the Rays.

Zimmermann (5-4) allowed a single run on seven hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings during Saturday's win over the White Sox.

EDGE Analysis

This was easily Zimmermann's best start of the season. The veteran has struggled since moving to the American League last year and sports a 5.98 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 5.7 K/9 through 61.2 innings in 2017. Despite Saturday's encouraging outing, Zimmermann has allowed three runs or more in eight of 10 starts this season, so it's probably best to temper expectations going forward. He projects to face the Red Sox at Fenway Park in his next start.
