Benoit (knee) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Benoit was placed on the DL with a left knee sprain on June 3 but is set to return after needing the minimum 10 days to recover. He'll slot back in as one of the team's late-inning setup options. Benoit held a 3.68 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with eight holds before his trip to the DL.

Benoit (knee) could be activated from the disabled list Sunday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Benoit has been on the disabled list since straining his left knee last weekend while walking down a flight of stairs. He threw a bullpen session Wednesday and will throw another one Friday.

Benoit was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with a left knee sprain.

EDGE Analysis

It's not immediately clear how long Benoit will be sidelined, but his DL placement is retroactive to June 1, so he will be eligible to be activated a week from Sunday. Adam Morgan was called up to take Benoit's spot in the bullpen for the time being.

Benoit (1-2) collected his first win of the season with a scoreless eighth inning during Sunday's victory over Washington.

EDGE Analysis

Benoit allowed two baserunners but was able to pitch his was out of the jam, and the offense plated three runs in the top of the ninth inning to hand the reliever the win. There are a number of blemishes on Benoit's game log, and his 5.06 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 and 6.2 BB/9 aren't target-worthy fantasy numbers.

Benoit was tagged with his second loss of the season after allowing five runs on three hits in one-third of an inning Wednesday against the Mariners.

EDGE Analysis

Benoit expressed some frustration after the game about the undefined roles in the Phillies' bullpen. He told Corey Seidman of CSN Philadelphia that he believes "it would be better if everybody knows what the role is and when you're going to contribute." Benoit was working the seventh inning Wednesday, but has been used in a setup role and to close games this season. Manager Pete Mackanin hasn't been able to set defined roles because none of his pitchers have seized the closing gig when given an opportunity.

Manager Pete Mackanin said he would have used Benoit to close Tuesday had there been a save chance, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

EDGE Analysis

Mackanin also said he wanted to get Hector Neris back into a save opportunity, but first wanted him to get back on track in a setup role. Neris tossed a scoreless inning Tuesday. Benoit remains a solid hold in deeper leagues if you are looking for potential saves. While Neris is the superior pitcher, he does not yet have the closing gig locked down.

Manager Pete Mackanin said after Friday's game that he is not naming Hector Neris his closer and reiterated that he feels comfortable with both Neris and Benoit in the ninth inning, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

EDGE Analysis

Benoit was used in a setup role Friday in front of Hector Neris for a second straight night. Mackanin may be saying both pitchers can close, but his actions indicate Neris, who earned his second save Friday, will get the bulk of the save chances if he continues to convert.

Manager Pete Mackanin declined to name a closer Thursday after he used Hector Neris instead of Benoit to close out a 6-4 victory over the Mets, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. "As I said originally, I'm not naming anybody the closer," Mackanin said. "I was going to use Benoit for the time being. It just occurred to me: It's nice to have two guys who can close. It was a good opportunity for me to use Neris. He came through very well."

EDGE Analysis

Benoit blew a save chance Sunday in Washington which seems to have opened the door for Neris. Benoit was used in the eighth inning Thursday, but it sounds like he is still in the mix for save chances. Mackanin wouldn't call his closing situation a committee approach, and instead said he trusts both pitchers in the eighth and ninth.

Benoit allowed three runs on two hits and a walk across two thirds of an inning to blow his first save of the season Sunday against the Nats.

EDGE Analysis

Entering with a one-run lead, Benoit walked one batter and allowed a single before Bryce Harper walloped a two-out, three-run homer to center to win the game. Benoit was recently anointed the Phillies' closer and converted his first save opportunity, but this development will not help his job security with the effective Hector Neris still lurking behind him.
