Jeffress earned his sixth save with a scoreless ninth inning on one hit while striking out one Sunday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress was given a three-run lead to work with, and closed out the game with little drama. After getting blasted for three runs Saturday, he quickly got back on track, and his once-perfect ERA is now at a respectable 3.12.

Jeffress earned his fifth save with a perfect ninth inning Tuesday at the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress was given a one-run lead to protect, and took care of business with an efficient seven-pitch effort. He's now gone seven outings without allowing a run while only allowing six baserunners. He's gaining a stronger hold on the Brewers' closer duties with each effective outing.

Jeffress pitched around a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday against the Cardinals for his fourth save of the year.
EDGE Analysis
The Brewers weren't supposed to win a lot of games this season, and at 4-4, they're not exactly off to a roaring start, but every one of those wins has ended in a Jeffress save. With Will Smith (knee) nowhere close to returning, it's hard to see anyone out of that Milwaukee bullpen challenging Jeffress for his job.

Jeffress picked up his third save by pitching a perfect ninth inning while striking out one Sunday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
He came into the game with a one-run lead and had no trouble picking up his third save over the last five days. After a very successful first week of the season, Jeffress is trying to eliminate any uncertainty about who deserves to be the closer in Milwaukee.

Jeffress earned his second save while surrendering a hit and a walk over two-thirds of an inning in Friday's 6-4 victory over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
After Sam Freeman surrendered a ninth-inning three-run homer to Tyler White, Jeffress walked into an unexpected save situation and cashed in by getting the final two outs. The 28-year-old now has back-to-back saves and has pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in three appearances this season.

Jeffress pitched a perfect ninth inning while striking out one to earn his first save of the season against the Giants on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Brewers entered the season with a plan to use Jeffress and Will Smith to close games based on the matchup, but an injury to Smith (knee) has paved the way for 28-year-old flamethrower to take the job and run with it. In 106.2 innings for Milwaukee dating back to 2014, Jeffress now owns a sharp 2.45 ERA with 101 strikeouts against 35 walks, good for a 162 ERA+ and 2.9 K/BB. The Brewers won't win many games, but the ones they do should be close which means Jeffress could have plenty of opportunities to be valuable in many formats.

Jeffress tossed a scoreless ninth inning in Tuesday's loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress was used in a non-save situation Tuesday, which could lead to some doubt about his assumed status as the Brewers' closer. However, the team was down just a run when he entered and will have an off day Thursday, so it seems more likely that manager Craig Counsell simply wanted to use his top reliever in a close game rather than save him. Jeffress still seems to be the favorite to close for Milwaukee, but that will ultimately be determined when the Brewers find themselves in a save situation for the first time this season.

With fellow reliever Will Smith (knee) likely to begin the season on the disabled list, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy, Jeffress is the favorite to open the 2016 campaign as the Brewers' closer.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Craig Counsell has not commented on the Brewers' closer situation since news of Smith's injury was reported, but he said earlier in March that Jeffress and Smith would share the ninth-inning duties when the regular season began, which puts Jeffress in line to handle the job by himself while Smith is sidelined. Jeffress has just one career save to his name, but he did post a 2.65 ERA and strike out 67 batters in 68 innings last year, so he has some upside if he proves capable of handling the closer's job.

Jeffress is pitching in Saturday's game against the Angels, Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress had been limited of late with a hamstring strain, but he's apparently moved past the ailment. Jeffress is expected to share setup and closing duties with Will Smith this season.

Manager Craig Counsell is not planning to name a closer prior to the beginning of the regular season, and will instead use both Jeffress (hamstring) and Will Smith in save situations depending on matchups, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress has not pitched this spring because of a hamstring injury, while Smith has been dominant, but Jeffress is set to appear in a game by this weekend, so the late start will not affect his standing in the bullpen. Jeffress and Smith will effectively share both the closer's and setup roles to begin the season, but the Brewers could opt to ride the hot hand if one of them gets off to a good start.
