Jeffress claimed the win in relief after pitching a scoreless seventh inning in Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress worked around a pair of base hits to keep the game tied at three runs apiece, and then was credited with the win after the Rangers took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With 18 appearances already this season, Jeffress' workload is something the Rangers may look to scale back a bit in the subsequent weeks, but he still looks positioned to serve as one of the primary setup men to closer Matt Bush.

Jeffress tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Angels, conceding one hit and one walk.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress put two runners on base during his American League-leading 14th appearance of the season, but he was able to steer clear of any damage and probably regained the faith of manager Jeff Banister after he served up three runs to take the loss Friday against the Angels. With a 4.91 ERA and just five strikeouts in 11 innings this season, Jeffress hasn't been the dominant setup arm the Rangers were expecting, but it doesn't sound like there's any bubbling momentum to scale back his work in high-leverage spots.

Manager Jeff Banister announced Monday that Matt Bush, not Jeffress, would get the first opportunity to serve as the team's closer while Sam Dyson (hand) is on the 10-day disabled list, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dyson doesn't sound like he'll be in store for a long absence, but it's unlikely he'll regain the closer's role upon his return from the disabled list, as he had blown all three of his save opportunities while giving up 13 runs over 4.1 innings. The hard-throwing Bush, who shook off a shoulder injury that sidelined him for about a week to strike out the side in his appearance Sunday against the Mariners, should represent a high-quality ninth-inning option, but if he stumbles out of the gate, Jeffress would presumably be next in line. Jeffress, who notched 27 saves between the Brewers and Rangers last season, has quickly established himself as one of Banister's top stoppers out of the bullpen in 2017, racking up nine appearances while giving up two runs over 6.1 innings.

Jeffress gave up one run on two hits and a walk while recording one out to take the loss Tuesday night against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
After another poor outing from Sam Dyson (and another blown save), Jeffress took the ball in a tie game in the 10th inning. Jeffress gave up a walk and a single before Carlos Perez laid down a walkoff bunt which stayed just fair along the first-base line. Dyson seems to be on his way out of the closer role and Matt Bush is nursing a shoulder injury, but Jeffress isn't making much of a case for himself with his early-season performance. Tony Barnette is in the mix as well as a possible replacement for Dyson in the ninth inning.

Jeffress pitched an inning against minor leaguers Saturday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
He retired the side in order on nine pitches, recording one strikeout. The right-hander has not been scored upon in seven Cactus League innings this spring, but with seven hits allowed and a 4:3 K:BB in that span, he hasn't exactly been dominant. Regardless, Jeffress appears in line to serve as the top setup option to closer Sam Dyson to begin 2017, ahead of the likes of Matt Bush and Keone Kela.

Jeffress and the Rangers avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.1 million contract Friday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress notched 27 saves for the Brewers before being sent to the Rangers at last year's trade deadline, but he appeared in just 12 games for his new club due to a stint on the restricted list for personal reasons. He was still effective in those outings, however, so the Rangers decided to bring him back for another year. He was used in a setup role with Texas last year and will likely head into this season in the same spot, but he is a proven option if the Rangers need to replace expected closer Sam Dyson for one reason or another.

Jeffress tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in his return from the restricted list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress' performance this week will likely determine if he'll be added to Texas' bullpen mix for the first round of the postseason that begins next week.

Jeffress (personal) was reinstated from the restricted list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Jeffress rejoined the team Friday and is now officially back on the active roster. He spent close to a month in a rehabilitation clinic following a DWI arrest in August. It's uncertain if Jeffress will return to a high-leverage role right away or if the Rangers will ease him back into the later innings.

Jeffress (personal) is expected to rejoin the Rangers on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of Fox reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a recent DWI arrest Jeffress was given the option of treatment or a suspension. He chose the former and was expected to spend a month in rehabilitation, so a return Friday would fit in that timetable.

Jeffress has checked into a rehabilitation clinic and will not face an MLB suspension for his DWI arrest Friday, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress was given the option of treatment or a suspension, according to MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman, and he chose to seek outside assistance for his issues. He is expected to spend about a month in the clinic, which puts his availability for the rest of the regular season in doubt. Even if he does not pitch in September, however, he could rejoin the Rangers for the playoffs.
