Jeffress will be the spot starter for Milwaukee against the Marlins on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress is set to make his first major-league start -- his first professionally since making a Double-A start in 2011 -- which will end up being a lengthy bullpen day for the Brewers. The right-hander isn't expected to throw more than 50 pitches before turning it over to another relief arm. His longest outing this season came in late July when he lasted 2.2 innings against the Orioles in a middle relief outing for Texas. Over the course of this year, Jeffress has posted a 4.55 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 57.1 innings.

Jeffress may start Friday's game against the Marlins, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Craig Counsell hasn't officially named a starter, but Eric Thames let it slip that Jeffress may be first out of the gates in what is expected to be a bullpen game for the Brewers. He owns a 2.70 ERA and 16:11 K:BB in 16.2 innings since joining Milwaukee at the trade deadline. He'll likely top out around 50 pitches Friday.

Jeffress was traded to the Brewers for RHP Taylor Scott, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress will return to the Brewers after being traded to the Rangers alongside Jonathan Lucroy just last season. The 29-year-old has struggled to a 5.31 ERA and 1.67 WHIP through 40.2 innings of relief this season, but he'll add some much needed depth to a weak Milwaukee bullpen. He posted a 2.22 ERA through 44.2 innings with the Brew Crew last season before being traded, so he'll look to return to that form as he rejoins the team that drafted him in the first-round in 2006.

Jeffress gave up one run on two hits and a walk while striking out three over 2.1 innings of relief in Wednesday's 22-10 loss to the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress entered the game with two outs in the third inning and the Rangers trailing 9-1, which speaks volumes of how far he's fallen in the bullpen pecking order. Though he was able to eat some innings in the blowout loss, Jeffress wasn't especially especially sharp, with the lone run he was charged with coming on a J.T. Realmuto long ball. Jeffress now sits on a 5.21 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 38 innings in what's been a miserable season.

Jeffress tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Orioles, giving up two hits and no walks and striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress has turned in six scoreless appearances in a row, with a brief stint on the disabled list in between failing to interrupt his momentum. Though he opened the season as one of the Rangers' primary setup options, Jeffress still has more work to do before he starts seeing higher-leverage work out of the bullpen on a regular basis again.

Jeffress (back) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday, John Blake of the Texas Rangers' organization reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress has been on the disabled list with a lower-back strain since June 22 but is ready to rejoin the Rangers bullpen after taking a couple of weeks off. The 29-year-old held a 5.46 ERA before being placed on the DL, so he doesn't figure to factor in to the team's closer carousel at the moment.

The Rangers placed Jeffress on the 10-day disabled list Thursday with a lower-back strain, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has been pitching decently in a setup role, but he'll need time off. He reportedly started to feel the injury after throwing a pitch Tuesday, and it worsened enough to warrant this move. Texas called up Preston Claiborne to fill Jeffress' spot.

Jeffress tossed two scoreless innings in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Mariners, giving up one hit and striking out a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress has been able to quickly put a disastrous four-run appearance June 14 against the Astros behind him, as he's delivered three scoreless innings over his subsequent two outings. The right-hander's poor peripherals and frequent implosions in high-leverage spots in April and May will keep him in middle relief for the time being, but the door isn't closed on Jeffress potentially settling back into a setup role before the season is out.

Jeffress fired two scoreless innings in Monday's 6-1 win over the Astros, giving up one hit and one walk and recording one strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
With no holds on his ledger since May 4, Jeffress has since settled into a middle-relief role after his early-season struggles resulted in him dropping out of the setup mix. Jeffress' season-long numbers (5.04 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 14:14 K:BB in 25 innings) remain an eyesore, but the right-hander is beginning to turn things around a bit. He's given up one run over 7.2 innings in his last five appearances while giving up just five hits and three walks.

Jeffress recorded just one out and was tagged for three runs on two hits and three walks in Tuesday's 11-6 loss to the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Jeffress entered the season seemingly positioned as the top understudy to closer Sam Dyson, but the right-hander's erratic control has resulted in him plummeting down the depth chart. In addition to tying a season high in issuing three walks, Jeffress also had a wild pitch with the bases loaded, allowing the Red Sox to build a six-run lead. Jeffress now owns an anemic 9:11 K:BB to go with a 6.75 ERA and 2.13 WHIP over 17.1 innings this season.
