J.B. Shuck hit a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth Friday as the Angels beat the Mets 5-4 in 11 innings. Shuck's homer was the last of the scoring until Jeurys Familia hit Hank Conger with a pitch with the bases loaded in the 11th, ending the game. Shuck was making his first start after replacing the injured Josh Hamilton on the Angels' roster. He's not going to be good for many more homers -- he hit just two in 437 at-bats last year -- but he should have some AL-only value as a starter against right-handers while Hamilton is out.

Angels recalled OF J.B. Shuck from Triple-A Salk Lake. Shuck will take the place of Josh Hamilton, who will miss 6-8 weeks after thumb surgery. Shuck hit .293/.331/.366 in 437 at-bats with the Angels last season and was batting .375 in five games with Triple-A this year. He'll likely start against most right-handers and Collin Cowgill will presumably start against left-handers.

Angels optioned OF J.B. Shuck, LHP Jose Alvarez and INF Grant Green to Triple-A Salt Lake; reassigned OF Matt Long to minor league camp. Shuck hit .293 for the Angels last season and a solid .281 this spring but still finds himself without a roster spot. He and Green still figure to spend plenty of time in the majors this season.

J.B. Shuck singled, doubled, stole a base, and drove in two runs against the Giants on Monday. All in a day's work. Shuck stole his third base and brought his Cactus League average up to .283. He has made a strong case to make the roster as the club's back-up outfielder.

J.B. Shuck went 2-for-5 with an RBI triple as the Angels routed the Rangers 12-1 on Wednesday. Shuck tripled in the fourth, part of the Angels' second multi-run inning to that point in the ballgame. Shuck had been cold in the Cactus League prior to Wednesday's game while Collin Cowgill, his competition for a roster spot as a back-up outfielder, has been hitting the cover off of the ball.

J.B. Shuck (ankle) once again is not in the Angels starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers. Shuck sprained his right ankle in Thursday's game, and while the injury isn't serious it has cost him a pair of games over the final weekend of the season. All signs point to him returning for Sunday's season finale. Collin Cowgill will get the start in left field and hit second for the Halos on Saturday.

J.B. Shuck (ankle) is not in Friday's lineup against the Rangers. Shuck is resting one day after he sprained his right ankle. It's not believed to be serious, so he has a chance of returning before the end of the season. Collin Cowgill is starting in left field Friday.

J.B. Shuck left Thursday's game against the Rangers with a sprained right ankle. It doesn't appear to be a serious ailment, but at this point in the year it might be enough to end his season. Collin Cowgill replaced him in left field.

J.B. Shuck went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's victory over the Rays. There were only nine hits compiled between the two teams, but Shuck and Luis Jimenez had two apiece. The former Astro has been surprisingly solid for the Halos this season, batting .296/.332/.377. However, with little power (two homers) or speed (five steals) to speak of, he's not anything more than a deep AL-only play.

J.B. Shuck went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the Angels' 7-2 win over the Indians on Saturday. Shuck singled and doubled in the game, but both his runs batted in came on sacrifice flies. He was supposed to be a part-time player, but the outfielder has forced his way into an everyday role in Peter Bourjos' absence with his play. The 26-year-old is hitting .293 with a .334 on-base percentage in 89 games with the Angels this year.
