Jason Hammel could move up a day to start on Thursday.
Hammel was ejected from his last start after throwing just 63 pitches, so the Orioles might bring him back on regular rest rather than give him an extra day. That would mean pushing Miguel Gonzalez back a day.

Jason Hammel was ejected from Saturday's game in the fourth inning for hitting Matt Tuiasosopo with a pitch in the shoulder.
It was his first pitch after giving up back-to-back-to-back homers to Victor Martinez, Jhonny Peralta and Alex Avila, so it looked pretty bad. However, the pitch was also a slider, and if Hammel wanted to send a message, he's not going to do it with a breaking ball. It's hard to imagine a suspension will follow.

Jason Hammel limited the Nationals to two runs in eight innings Monday in the Orioles' victory.
The eight innings were a season-high for Hammel, who struck out eight batters without issuing a walk. He scattered five singles and three doubles while improving to 7-2 on the year. Hammel will bring a 4.98 ERA into his next scheduled start against the Tigers.

Jason Hammel allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings as the Orioles beat the Yankees on Wednesday.
Hammel was coming off two straight starts in which he didn't last five innings, so Wednesday was a return to form of sorts for the right-hander. Despite an ugly 5.37 ERA, Hammel is now 6-2 through 10 starts. His next start will come Monday against the Nationals.

Jason Hammel gave up a season-high six runs in four innings Friday in a no-decision against the Twins.
Hammel notched a season-high six strikeouts, but there weren't many other positives about this one. 11 out of the 23 batters he faced reached base, as he allowed eight hits, two walks and hit a batter. Fortunately for him, the O's bats took him off the hook for the loss. While Hammel already has five wins to his credit, he just hasn't looked like the same pitcher so far this season.

Jason Hammel allowed four runs on nine hits over six innings Sunday against the Angels.
Hammel picked up his fifth win, but didn't have his best stuff. He was able to bounceback after a three-run first inning and his only other mistake came on a solo shot to Mike Trout in the fourth. Hammel has a plus matchup in his next start Friday vs. the Twins.

Jason Hammel allowed two unearned runs over six innings Thursday in a 10-2 win over the Athletics.
Both runs were unearned due to a fielding error by J.J. Hardy in the second inning. Hammel gave up just three hits and two walks on the evening, but he only struck out two batters. He at least kept the ball on the ground for the most part -- a nice change of pace from his recent starts -- but he's going to need to strike out more batters to remain valuable in mixed leagues. He'll carry a 3-1 record and a 3.82 ERA into a favorable matchup against the Mariners in Seattle next week.

Jason Hammel gave up four runs in six innings against the Dodgers on Saturday as part of a no-decision.
Hammel served up a three-run homer to Andre Ethier in the first inning and allowed a sacrifice fly by Mark Ellis in the second, but he settled down nicely from there and kept the Orioles in the ballgame. He threw a season-high 113 pitches while striking out five and issuing three walks. Hammel has completed six innings in all four of his starts, but he isn't missing as many bats as he did last year. It's something to monitor moving forward. He lines up to face the Athletics next Thursday in Oakland.

Friday's game between the Dodgers and Orioles was postponed due to rain.
It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. ET while the nightcap will begin at 7:05 p.m. ET. Friday's scheduled starters, Jason Hammel and Hyun-Jin Ryu will presumably be pushed back until Saturday.

Jason Hammel was credited with a win after allowing three runs in six innings Tuesday against the Rays.
Hammel's Orioles were trailing 3-2 when his outing was done, but the offense came through with five runs in the top of the seventh. That allowed Hammel to get the win even though the line score indicates that he was outpitched by David Price.
