Cronenworth is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Additionally, Cronenworth made his 11th appearance at shortstop this season, putting him well on his way to maintaining eligibility there in most formats for next season with Fernando Tatis still injured.

Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, walk and strikeout in a 5-3 loss to the Rockies on Saturday.

Starting at shortstop for the injured Fernando Tatis, Cronenworth homered in the third to even the score 2-2 and later walked in the sixth to reach base twice on the game. The infielder has put his power on display this season with 15 long balls in 104 games after just four in 54 contests in 2020. With Tatis out, Cronenworth is likely to gain shortstop eligibility as his appearance Saturday was his seventh this season.

The Padres were clinging to a one-run eighth-inning lead when Cronenworth provided some breathing room with a two-run shot to right field off Daniel Bard. The long ball was his first since July 16. Half of his 14 homers came during a 14-game hot stretch between June 11 and June 25.

Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-4 victory against the Athletics.

Cronenworth reached base in the fourth, sixth and seventh, scoring in the two former innings for the Padres' first runs of the game. It was the infielder's third multi-hit performance in his last five games and the former Tampa Bay farmhand is slashing a superb .277/.352/.458.
