The Phillies have requested UR waivers for the purpose of granting Bailey his unconditional release, Meghan Montemurro of The News Journal reports.

Bailey was designated for assignment on Tuesday after producing an ERA over 10 since June and is now expected to be released from the ball club entirely. At only 32 years old and a career 3.20 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in the majors, it seems likely he will be scooped up by another team in the future, but for now, he's headed for free agency.
