The Dodgers are calling up Verdugo from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 21-year-old's immediate path to playing time may not make him too valuable in most mixed fantasy leagues, but that could change if Corey Seager (elbow) is forced to miss extended time. Verdugo has breezed through Oklahoma City with a .314/.389/.436 performance, accompanied by six home runs, nine stolen bases, 52 walks and only 50 strikeouts across 495 plate appearances. His fantasy ceiling remains a hot subject of debate, especially since the Pacific Coast League often bolsters mediocre bats. However, his makeup points to a potential long-term, major-league starter. Perhaps he'll yield across-the-board value instead of doing so overwhelmingly in a particular stat category. The batting eye improvements he's made the last two seasons attest to his increasingly big-league-ready skills.
