Royals acquired OF Justin Maxwell from the Astros for RHP Kyle Smith. Maxwell is batting just .241/.311/.387 through 40 games this season, but he owns an .824 career OPS against left-handed pitching. He figures to be used on the short side of a platoon in right field alongside David Lough.
