Reed (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Instead of returning to the big-league bullpen this weekend, Reed will require a pair of appearances with Rochester in order to prove his elbow can handle the work. The plan is for him to pitch Friday and Sunday, after which he should be activated from the 10-day DL.
